The oil weakens the the edge control...that is why your edges come out. All you have to do is put a little water to get rid of the flaking. That youtuber obviously does not know what they are talking about. You don't need to put water on your edges before you apply the edge control.

I like to use a water based gel first, to shape them, then go over it with the Edge Booster to make sure it stays in place, and no flakes! I’ve heard too that you can out oil on top of your edges to prevent the flaming

Yeah that edge booster is a no. The hold is good, but the flaking is NOT worth it. It flakes no matter what you do. Oil, hot water, prayers, NOTHING removes the flakes sis. You didn’t do anything wrong, it’s just a 👎🏾

When using edge booster there’s not a lot needed literally a little Nd I use eco gel with it personally I haven’t experienced flaking but I do spray water on my edges to prevent it and it holds well for me .

I may be unpopular opinion but I’ve had the edge booster for a month now and I love it! I use my eco styler to style my hair and then I use my maximum strength edge booster on my edges and it stays all day, sometimes lasts 2 days! If it starts to turn a little while I just tap it with water and rub it back in and it’s good!

I use Edge Fixer on moisturized edges. Then I use Mielle Honey & Ginger Styling Gel on top. It’s a pretty good hold for my 4A hair. If I’m honest though, I believe edges hold best when they are fully moisturized, damp with an application of (1) flake free gel and (2) whatever edge control you think works best. For real, I’m not paying over $10 for an edge control. That’s outrageous.

For the Edge Booster, I always apply a little eco styler gel ( olive oil) to give it a maximum hold after applying the edge booster... in order to manage the ‘white flakey stuff’ you must not use a lot and for the most part use of fairly damp/clean hair... hope that helps!

I found that using a gel then put a new edge control on top my hair remains soft and hold last all day! I use a protein gel with the crime of nature edge control and it has a strong hold and i have. I tie down with a silk scarf as well.

I needed this video in 2017/2018 when all these damn edge controls had me out here itchy AND looking like Pooty Tang 😩😩So far I've found that the water based products, specifically Edge Booster, don't make my sensitive scalp feel raw or itchy but if I don't rinse it out and re-style every other day (I do the rinse and reset right under the sink water while washing my face) I get a nasty white, gooey and flakey cast.

I’ve tried 3 of the edge controls in this video. (My hair does not want to listen to reason and refuses to let me be great) Creme of nature edge control doesn’t work for anyone 3b and down. Ebin was promising for me for a couple of hours but Georgia humidity said NOPE. Edge booster ALONE does not work because my hair hates me and the only way I combat both my hair and the flaking without sacrificing hold, I use eco(Edit: I also don’t tie it down because for some reason my edges lift up and becomes a hot mess). Side bar. Your ability to cover the extra dark areas around your eyes and lips are perfectly amazing!!!! Your makeup looks very natural. I think you can help a lot of people who have this issue by doing makeup tutorials.(if you are not already)

Thanks for watching! ... I do my edges first then do my makeup. I go back in and fix around the edges with foundation or powder. I tend to not put much foundation on my forehead or near hairline for lots of reasons but that’s what I do. 😊

my sister has very curly soft thin hair, were mine is very coarse like and super thick. What me and my sister have learned is that soft edges products hold better with her hair and last longer because of the texture compare to mine which is super thick and would need a more thicker longer lasting hold to really swoop Dem edges
