I never realized how different mutes can sound. RGC is definitely my favorite (I’m a little biased lol). It definitely had a nice range of colors in the sound and was even across the registers. Thank you for this!!!

Awesome video! Great consistent playing between each mute- it helps. Not a huge fan of the plastic mute. There’s definitely something about the wood sound that defines the muted sound but really depends on what the composer or conductor is looking for too

Very interesting comparison! While I have seen the price of mutes over time in various advertisements on-line and in the Horn Call, I never really compared the price. There is definitely a difference in the sound - tone quality and tambour. Thank you for putting this together.

with some of these, I hardly heard any difference, maybe ever so slight hollowness or something like that in difference but nothing notable. But others were quite noticeable.

It would have been helpful to hear your opinion on how these feel when playing them. I can hear you fighting the pitch on a couple in louder dynamics.
