For remotes with worn out membrane switches on the back of the rubber buttons, I used crazy glue and gold leaf for new contacts. Worked for years.

I have this exact remote and out of nowhere the original one wouldn’t want to lock or unlock or do anything I changed the battery multiple times and the same thing happened I decided to get a new one today and it was working fine but then it started to do the same thing

OMG, thank you SO much! You saved the day! lol I locked my keys in the car for the weekend & my husband left for the weekend with the other set of keys. We have 2 key fobs in the house that havent worked for some reason. Well, 1 needed the battery retainer soldered back in but the other 1 should work but doesnt. I was in the kitchen testing the buttons and the horn started going off! Thankfully I was able to get it to turn off and since that worked, thought I would try the door and omg, it was unlocked! I still cant get the buttons to lock/unlock the car but using the red & black leads at the top and bottom of the unlock circuit will control it at least. Question is, why wont my remote work then? It is very clean.

Big question for you, my ford controller, just like the one in the video, drains batteries very quickly, I replaced them four times during the last 2 weeks, they usually last one or two days

Sounds like a short, given how fast they are draining. I don't think expired batteries would even do that, but I'm not 100% on that. I would definitely start by making sure nothing is electrically connecting the positive side to the negative side, either right away or when it gets closed together. Do all of the buttons work normally? A button stuck in the on position could be a constant drain, and would result in a button push that does nothing.

@@CarsSimplified I was supecting on a short too... No buttons stock on the pressed position, all buttons work normal when new battery is in... It's a weird case.

There are a bunch of factors, but I suspect returns due to incorrect diagnosis and the rights to produce the copyrighted shapes/designs (for those which that even applies) are the major factors beyond the basic cost. I agree that a lot of them cost too much! Thanks for the comment!

I check my old battery remote and it's show 2.8 volt, then I check the new battery and that show the same volt as the the old battery, but my quastion is why new battery work and the old one not working ,although they have the same voltage? Thanks

Different conditions can weaken a battery; if you are able to test the battery under load, it might show different voltages. 2.8V is pretty close to dead for a CR2032 battery, depending on what it is powering.

I have to clean the contacts of my control every week. Then it works like a new one. But after 3-4 days it starts fading away again. What can that be?

What's getting on it? I'd assume it isn't sealed up very well if it happens that quickly and can be cleaned that well.

If there is no continuity through the button when the button is pressed, then the button is bad. While it is possible to replace those switches, it's difficult to find the right size and style, as well as to remove the old button and install the new one. Then you have to hope that was the only issue! Most people end up buying a new remote if a switch is bad.

@@joshzuniga2178what about switch button test at 2:46? Do you set your meter for continuity too? because i don't see the multimeter negetive needle.

@@LOVEPEACE12345678 he's got it set to continuity which looks like sound waves. he's holding both the black and red nodes, you just can't see it cuz its being blocked. he's then using the screw driving to push the button to complete the circuit. if he just put a needle on both sides without pressing the button, there is no circuit. hopefully i'm correct

@@Aznfool is that mean either red & black nodes touch the right and left of the swtich legs and push the swtich button to complete the circuit and the multimeter would make some sound wave? is my understanding correct?

On each side of the switch button are metal that is soldered onto the Circuit. Doesn’t matter direction of the multimeter but put it in circuit mode as the meter will send out a small electrical charge to see if the circuit it complete. So you put the red on one side and black on the other metal part. Without pushing the button the circuit is not complete. When you press down on the button the circuit is now complete and you hear a beep or chirp. This requires some hand coordination to use both poles and something to push the button.
