Do you need a garden shredder? I've discovered that they can be handy in a small garden in context. If I had a homestead with lots of trees and limbs, I might choose to invest in a true wood chipper, something that could handle large branches. But in my backyard garden, and around my house, most of the biomass that I generate is thin stemmed. Often it's too thick to compost in a single season, so it needs to be shredded so the compost will be available quickly. I've purchased a cheap shredder from Amazon, for under $200. Let's give it a test. I'll cover the kinds of materials that I'll be shredding and you can decide for yourself if a shredder is right for you.
