I actually purchased this from a local supply shop to me, there is a very good reason why they are plastic stir sticks.. this product was originally intended for the Tattoo industry, where everything is supposed to be disposable and not reused for hygiene reasons

I got one of these a while back, I ended up getting some brass tubing from my local hobby shop and made my own extensions by crimping one end closed with some pliers. That way I can use whatever thinner I need without worrying about the plastic melting and they're all the right size for jars now.

Yep, I did the same but with stainless steel tube (I already had it) I think I only paid about US$1 for the stirrer from Aliexpress.

Love my trusty Badger mixer. I put a half length +/- cardstock TP core over the paint bottle so when I pull the mixer out it slings the little bits of paint on the inside of the core, not my bench/clothes/hands etc.

I got two badgers, one for my home setup, and one for my travel setup. The only I hate with badger is when I mix up tamiya jars, it puts a lot of bubbles in it that a brush would pick up and put on the item I'm painting. But that's more of a technique issue than the mixer it self. But yeah, I love my badgers. I bought it after I saw your one of your tips and tricks or items you need videos. Thank your for helping us out!

Really enjoying the content as preparation for returning to the hobby after a number of years away (early retirement). getting ready to take on my first kit in over 20 years next week and should do better than I used to, thanks to your teachings. may not be to great at first as I build strength and dexterity back up in my right hand. Thanks for the work.

Thank you for testing out another gizmo for us. No doubt those Badger style mixers are better mixers, but as I use quite a few paints out of dropper bottles and other narrow necked bottles, I have had to modify one of my badger mixers to fit these bottles. I could see a mixer like this work decent with those type bottles and especially water based paints.
@andrewmazurkiewicz1057 ай бұрын
You can buy a 100 mixing sticks for about 3 euros, so they are pretty much a disposable item. On water based oil or alcohol paints it's not a bad deal. Seems to work well. Getting a badger is a bit more pricey here in europe. I got one of the mixers with the paddle switch and the little stirrer rosette fell off (i'll have to get around to soldering it back on some time. Cheers. Andrew

Very interesting video as usual! When you said you're getting shot glass with thinner, I was oh-no, that is plastic, it will melt it (lacquer thinner contains acetone, which melts most common plastics, only plastic commonly used I know is resistant to acetone is HDPE, and there is a small chance they used that to make those needles). Unfortunately, that just happened. The way I see it, it could be useful for acrylic (water and alcohol based) paints. Considering the price, my suggestion is to pay few more extra $ and to buy trumpeter mixer or badger mixer. Btw, that electric lime green paint looks amazing!
