I gave it to a friend of mine to test it on a straight razor and it seems it leaves a finish similar to an 8000 grit stone. So as I presume is too fine for knives. :)

This could be a charnley forest or a various novaculite type oilstone. This appears to be very hard and more suited as a finishing stone in a multi stone progression. You should get it sharp on a lower grit stone then use this later to polish the edge. So possibly a charnley forest or an Arkansas stone made of novaculite would be my best guess.

Thank you for your feedback. When I was trying to identify the stone I have considered also some historical facts. :) The seller told me that this was his grandfather stone. In the past Romania had a lot of trade with Germany so I was leaning towards turingian stone.
