I'm curious how you apply the dialectic grease... you say not to goop it on. I'm just gonna assume it's a very small amount on everything. Really can coat everything?

Yes, just a thin film on the connectors. The dialectic grease helps prevent corrosion and can help prevent arcing.

if the batteries are below spec, do you replace with new common batteries from new gen?

If you have bad cells, you should replace them with the same that was taken out, or if you want newer style cells, you will need to replace the entire pack. There are companies that sell both
