Here I test a low driver output for an EVAP vent valve on a P10 PCM from a GMT360/370.
Seen here I have a P10 PCM, a BCM and a TCCM cobbled together in a drawer for ready testing and experimentation purposes. It is a mess but it suits my purposes!
I am measuring the continuity between PCM connector 2, terminal 17 and ground. This is the control circuit for the EVAP vent valve. The valve gets 12 volt power from fuse #26. The PCM supplies the ground when vent valve activation is required. When inactive it should be an open circuit between C2:17 and ground.
I use a smartphone and a serial terminal app to send the appropriate service/mode $AE command for a 2005 P10 PCM (request device control) which activates the low driver circuit for the vent valve.
I could go get my Tech 2 to activate the vent valve low driver but the phone is more convenient for me.
Without sending a "test tool present" command the request device control command times out in about 5 seconds.
This PCM Evap low driver circuit tests good.
