Hi Billy I enjoy your videos and the way you present your views, opinions and ideas. I’m a recent subscriber as well. I like the ikijimi method of dispatching the fish. I’ll be doing that once I’ve sourced the equipment. I do use scissors to cut the gills open and I’ve found gutting the fish ASAP keeps the belly meat delicious. I think the stomach enzymes and acid taints the flesh quite quickly if you leave the guts in. All the best, Richard

Nice one Billy 👍 I have another dilemma 🤣 I'm planning on running this set up on my clean ground 4-5oz rod. With about the same line, I'm currently using my 20yo magged chrome rocket on it but I don't want to run it into the ground this summer soooo... do you think the smaller spool of a 515 would cast further than a 525 with a 4oz lead because of less initial inertia to get it spinning or about same because diameter will go down faster? I have mk1 and mag extra 525s that I use for 5-6oz rod but they don't go as far as the rocket on light rod, I believe due to heavier spool and light lead. (please ignore if I'm talking pollacks again) 🤣🎣👍

Hi Daz. Try and see if it works. I was using the daiwa millionaire because of the braking system on it , how smoothly they run. But give it a go, maybe use a softer rod. Thanks Brother 👍😁

@@Billyfishing_watch Thanks, think I'll try a new 515, I like the pretty blue ones haha. Rod is only a baby TT LD, 4oz with bait bends it no problem🎣👍

Did the 4-strand braid well in the long term on the 7 HT's? I'm also usually fishing the old black 7HT "brit style" ;-) (multipliers are not common for surf fishing on the continent). Use .31mm mono acutally, but allways open for something new.
@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
You should change your fishing line now. Braid is a lot more fun than mono. I wish I did it 10 years ago. Thanks wolf. Follow the link it will show you how to set your reel up

Hi Billy, just a quick question about reel maintenance, I've just bought my first 525 mag 4, do I need to strip it down to remove all the blue grease or won't it make a lot of difference, as I have only just started fishing with a multiplier, so am not casting great distances yet ?
@Billyfishing_watch Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. The maintenance of the reel, is more about how much it's used, and where and how it was used. So if you fish on sandy beaches in the wind the rain and storms, there will be a lot more sand dust salt and other dirt in your reel! If you fish in good weather on piers and other places without sand. Than light service will do once a year then you will not have to remove the grease, but I would just do it anyway. You can use methylated spirits white spirits to clean the grease from the gears, place the on kitchen towel in the order that came out. That goes for the bearings as well as washers and other clips. Take photos as well, so you can remember which way they went in. And which side was up. Hope this is helpful, thanks Brother 👍😁

What part of Ireland are you in. I'm looking to be over in October have not been over for about 7 years normally around cork or bantry any ideas on places to stay and fish

How's it going Chumliegh, the vid was filmed in Western Denmark. When I am fishing in the Cork area, I like the Kenmare river area where you can catch double figure huss, congers, thornbacks etc. I also like the Bere peninsula, same kind of deal with the fish. On my facebook page there is a picture of a huss I caught just down the road from Kenmare.

Hi Billy I have to agree size limits on fish are to small. But the greedy fishing boats especially the Spanish and French take any thing and everything. 20 30 years ago you could catch good size fish from beach and boat's now only small immature fish . The trawlers have destroyed or fish stocks for money 💰🤑 .I would like to see at least 20 to 40% increase on take size for all forms off fishing. Also net changes from diamond to square in cod end's so small fish can get out.

100% , Stephen. I have fishing boats only take what the EU let's them mostly 🤫.it the money man how's to blame 👊

@@Billyfishing_watch yes I have helped out on small inshore trawlers the amount of small fish that is killed is alarming just to get the bigger fish is a crime soles about 3 to 4 inches Bass this is our future stock. But know one will listen to us . Good luck 👍 with your fishing. Steve.
