When I am fishing with bait and it is slow I'll launch it out, let it sit for 2 to 5 minutes then wind it in say 5 to 10m and keep repeating, it's kind of like lure fishing as you are moving the bait so it gets attention

does the braid not cut your fingers to bits, and what advantage does the braid give you, i use it on the boat but it seems like a knife edge at times, also ive used most rigs in my 50yrs of beach fishing, the pulley being one of those which i thought was for fishing over rough ground, but unless you catch a fish it seems no different than the others, i just keep to clipped down pennel and a two hook flapper now, getting too old for all these rigs, but i am man enough that i dont use a butt pad, even when jigging
@Billyfishing_watch3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, so much to discuss. First, about the line I use a thumb protecter ,so the line does not cut me. Secondly, I can cast well over 150m, so bite detection is very important, thirdly, I don't use a pulley on clean ground, the rigs are designed this way to maximize distance, and last but not least, I use a but pad , because I don't fish just in the UK and Ireland, I fish all over, my best fish is over the 100lbs, from the shore, so I like to use a but pad, it's just habit, thanks Brother 👍😊

Hi Mark, the short answer is no .but if you talk to the locals you can catch every thing from blue finn to spanish mackerel .we get dabs, flounder, cod if you are lucky and a school's or two, no dogs, rays, hounds all gone 😢 thanks Brother 👍😊

I know there is always a possible chance to hang a big fish wherever you fish but fishing 40 lb braid with 100 lb leader for little tiny flat fish is over kill but I will say I have never fished anywhere in Europe so I don’t know
@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, well the thing is, the braid is the same diameter as 15lb mono and is much stronger and the bite detection is much better. And the 100lb leader is thinner than 80 lb mono leader, which you would have to use anyway, and I travel a lot so it makes more sense for me to fish like this. Thanks Brother 👍

As a habitual roving rock angler, l never used one, just wrapped up in quality waterproof tops and chest waders. Thought l would Indulge in an IGLOO two years ago, for my occasional static pegged matches, on similar type beaches you fish. In all honesty after 40 plus years of fishing without l regret not doing so sooner, the plus comforts of using one are tremendous, especially in what are my later years in life.
