Unfortunately my hamster, Charlie, passed today 😔 I want to thank you ever so much because thanks to you my hamster has led the best life I could have gave him. He originally, when I got him on the 10th April 2022 , lived in a pets at home cage. I upgraded his cage to a bin cage, plenty of deep bedding, many boredom breakers, hides, tunnels, different types of substrates and a lot of other things. It was because of you that today I realised that he led an amazing life. Thank you ever so much Victoria, you made his short life so much more amazing than it would have originally been ❤😊

For getting hamster paw prints I have used crayola air dry clay and some paint! The paw print showed up pretty well too. I’ve used this for a dog and 3 Guinea pigs as well!!

I lightly pushed their paws on the clay and then painted the indent after so it doesn’t require you to paint their paws!

For the ceramic hide I actually had one that was quite tall (had a small compartment for some ice, to be a cooling hide, though I never used it) not niteangel. I put it in the corner of my hamster’s cage, on a platform and she seemed to love it. A couple days later, I actually found her stuck behind the hide. She was struggling to get out, and there was a big wound on her chest (she must’ve rubbed over and over on the back of the hide) and she didn’t survive 😭 Yours isn’t tall so I’m not worried about that , just wanted to share my story so others hammys won’t have the same fate as my baby 😭

OMG! A Bissell carpet sweeper. Haven't seen those in YEARS. Most people had one when I was small (1970's) to clear everyday crumbs off the carpet so you didn't have to get the vacuum out every day. They're not meant for heavy duty cleaning, like hay/sawdust, though. Handy if someone dropped by unexpectedly. A quick run over just before you answer the door. . . Just yell, I'm coming, as you sweep. 😆

We use those natural sweepers in the restaurants to clean under tables. They’re really awesome but I will say it is annoying having to cut all the hair out at the end of the night. You could probably get a little comb from the dollar store and comb it out but they are more affective on little bits and pieces. It’s hard to sweep up broken crayons/ wrappers/ straw wrappers but it’s really good at getting the crumbs and small pieces in food.

I got that same floor sweeper because I'd read similar things from other bunny owners. It just fills up too fast to be very practical for hay clean-up, IMO. I know I've still yet to find a hay clean-up option that lives up to the hype *sigh*. That puzzle toy is tempting, though!

The paw print kits a better AD. I’ve used these a lot now on cats and hamsters 😢. And you do a medium firm press straight down and up (no side or sliding movement) to get the best print.
@VictoriaRaechel10 ай бұрын
It’s pretty difficult unless you have a very docile pet who doesn’t mind their paw being held and pushed down 😅
@aduckofsomesort10 ай бұрын
I never thought about using these AD. My girls do not really like being held at all so that would definitely be a good way to do it with them. Unfortunately one girl has already passed and been dealt with, really would like to have gotten her print.

Thank you Victoria! You posted this video at the perfect time because I was literally just thinking about what products I should just go ahead an buy for my new dwarf hamster instead of making myself. I've accumulated a ton of supplies to build all sorts of fun hideouts and toys bordom breakers...but there's some things I just need to buy. Hoping to see some things I was thinking about getting. Also I'm wondering if you can guide me to one of your videos that can help me figure out what the best way is for placing bedding and burrowing spaces, like should I separate areas so im not having to clear out all the more expensive type bedding and burrowing material. Should I put just a area of like coconut fiber in a corner or mix it in or in a container...I'm a newbie here and trying to create the best habitat for my little dwarf hamster. He's a djungarian dwarf hamster and I've had him for about a week now. I got majority of his habitat set up pretty well but I didn't have aspen chips at first so I just used a couple bags of the soft bedding...about 9 to 12 inches depending in the area. But now that I have the aspen...I'm wondering how I'm to add it in his bin without disturbing his burrows and stash spots he's already made and usually hides out in most days. Is it OK to clean it all out once to get the base down for him underneath the bedding how do I do that without messing up his burrows? I don't want to stress him out.. thinking maybe just place everything back exactly where he had it all but just with the new aspen and he can redo his burrows idk?

Your pets are so adorable!!!! ❤️🥺❤️ Alsooooo i had to tell you that I use this puzzle toy, that you gave your rabbits for my hamster Shang and he really enjoys it! Maybe Penny would like it too? Shangs fav part of it, is the sliding piece with the 3 holes. He even goes there - if i forgot to put treats in there and he slides the thing around in hope there are treats. (its in his playpen and sometimes i let him out and "bad hamster mommy" forgot to out pines cores into his puzzle - jail for mommy, jail for 1000 years) The bigger sliding piece is a bit of a challenge - I've never actually seen him sliding it - but i saw it open one day - so he probably managed it. He also managed the "pulling-on the string one" if i put it on top a bit loose. The only thing he has not managed so far is the "lifting" one. Maybe Penny has fun with it too and it would make a cute video xD I really enjoy watching Shang playing with it! 🥰 Also - omg i remember the sticky hair roller... I've had this, as i had cats... 😂 I remember the struggle of cleaning it! I can still feel it.. Oh - and Shang has this hide too (rodipet version instead of niteangle - but they look the same) - I've realized Shang doesnt like it, if i put all the 3 existing pieces together... but ever since i placed them apart from each other, he seems to like it 😊 If he climbs on top it, it makes a bit of a noise and its positioned in front of the exit... so "him climbing on top of it" and making this "jingle" noise, is now our new signal of: "mommy, pls let me out to my playground" 😂 Thank you for this video! Your pets are so adorable (i wish i could cuddle every single one of them xD). I hope you have a wonderful day - Greetings Kaia & Shang

@aduckofsomesort10 ай бұрын
Does he have at least 10 inches of bedding? What do you consider to be a good size cage and wheel? These things being too small or not deep enough seem to be the most common cause of stress.
