Nice video. Do you have a video where you tear down the clipper and remove the armature? I know it can be tricky and requires ring pliers, but I'd like to see it done - there is, no doubt a LOT of dog hair in my Oster A5's. I'm going to give it a go and see if I can get it to bits. Hopefully all the bits will all go back together.

When you find a bad armature, do you rewind it, or just replace it? I have an armature that has a gear cut on the output shaft rather than threaded like yours. I'm having trouble finding a supplier for a new one.

the armature I'm looking at had a plastic like glue covering the windings on both ends. It seems to have melted onto and between the stacks messing up the armature. What was the purpose of the plastic?

It depends. If the armature in question is part of a well known, brand name machine whose maufacturer is still in business, by all means replacement should be the first option. You should be able to get contact info (and possibly more) thru an internet search. OTOH, if your machine is an "orphan"--mfgr out of business--then you have almost no choice but to have it rewound. Phone the motor repair shops (several if possible) in your area for an estimate. Some may not do small armatures. Good luck.
