Hey Lizzy, I'd really love to see the white t-shirts revisited maybe after the summer in a basics roundup review in case there's a difference in how they shape up over time/with multiple washes etc. Love Testing Basics and all the time you put into it, always a go-to when I'm looking for new basics!

Lizzy, maybe next time you’re doing testing basics for something that is very similar like this, you could talk more about the garment construction, as in how the stitching look, and how the seams are finished etc! Great video!
@meriumi5 жыл бұрын
Agreed about going more into detail. The construction and the quality of the fabric are almost definitely where more obvious differences in quality can be spotted. Even here, just looking at the shirts on a small screen you can definitely tell that the weave of the Arket tee is a lot more dense than any of the other shirts, which is a pretty clear indication of better quality.

My favorite basic t-shirt is the Uniqlo U. The fabric is so high quality. Thick, not at all sheer, soft and it doesn't crease! I also love the shape and length. The sleeves are perfect as well. I would recommend them to everyone! I would also size up for a more boxy look. If you want a fitted slim look, stay with your regular size.

I think the one from Arket looked better than alle the others, and I'd say it's basically the perfect white T-shirt. For that I think it's actually worth spending a bit more money, so personally I think it's the best one. I have the one from Weekday myself and I think it's ok, but the sleeves are nicer on the one from Arket as they don't go out as much if you know what I mean. It's like the Weekday tee has kinda broad sleeves and the Arket one has narrower sleeves which makes it look a bit more clean.

Wow, that's dedication. Thank you for putting in such a massive effort into something so hard as distinguishing between white t-shirts. As a few others here have suggested I'm also curious to see how they hold up over time, and if any stand out as better quality items after some wear and washing, if the construction is good and if the seams are holding up. Maybe not material for a whole new video, but could worth a mention in a vlog or a favourites video.

I will add about the UniQlo one: they are designed for Japanese women who tend to be smaller in proportion compared to western women so that could be a reason for the sizing. I go a large in it and a small in most other shirts but it will always be my favourite because of the fabric.

Bless you for being so thorough with this! Something that would have been really cool and I'm wishing I had suggested it beforehand (though you might not have fancied it anyway) was if you had narrowed the selection down to just organic cotton/bamboo/tencel tees (e.g. from Weekday, Organic Basics, People Tree, H&M Concious, Selected Femme, Arket etc). Maybe you could do some kind of eco-fabrics-only (bamboo, linen, organic cotton, tencel, hemp or recycled fibre) or ethically-manufactured-only (though that would be more difficult!) testing basics in future? Not only would it be SO helpful now people realise we need to shop more thoughtfully, but it might also shift other people's mind set and it might help you if you need to narrow down the number of garments you review? If you do do an eco-fabrics thing, composition of 100% one fabric is best because it means the fabric can be recycled. Also, love the nips!! x

Hey Lizzy, wow thanks for the effort of reviewing so many white T-shirts! I appreciate trying to keep them all similar, but I would suggest going for whichever size suits you best as that is the fairest way of comparing the brands. In real life no one is going to say "I would want to size up, but I need to stick to the same size. So I guess I better go with another brand" I got the impression that the Uniqlo in Medium would have been first place. I would be keen to see one of those Testing Basics year in review you used to do, to see if you still like your first place items the best and see how they've worn with time. Thanks!

Hi Lizzy, I am watching this in 2020 and wanted to say if you ever do another of these and wanted to get into lesser-known sustainable brands, by far my favourite tees (for style, really good quality and transparency/sustainability) are from a Portuguese brand called Isto. Cannot recommend enough, and they also do really good collared shirts, I buy the men's ones so the sleeves will be long enough.

"Body" is the correct word for tshirts that hold their shape and are not overly thin. Manufacturers use the word "soft" to describe tshirts that are thin, flimsy, floppy, and see through.

UNIQLO U Tshirt in my opinion is the best out of them all. I have a couple of them in different colours and I adore the quality, they do not ball up at all; I have had ones from Asos before which is 100% cotton but they ball up after wash which I was not a fan of. My unpopular opinion on T shirt comes from the one I saw from Allsaints, I just dont seem to understand why brands with that kind of pricing makes tshirt with see through texture, same goes to Whistles.

Hi there, I just wanted to share my experience regarding James Perse tees. They were the first “designer “ brand tees I ever purchased and I still have and wear them all even after about eight years. I’m sorry if you had a bad experience with yours but mine have all been great quality and well worth the investment! Great video, love this series 😎
