Idk why people will create hate over something so trivial like this 😅. But people need to be more respectful whenever they want to share their experience (some do, some won't). On top of that every single head of hair is a different story; some might lift more than others. One thing is a hair sample and another one is the hair on a head with more or less natural warmth, strand thickness, hair processing, etc. Nothing is black and/or white, nor that she ever implied something like that. I’ve been using blonde me by Schwartzoff for the past year & it took my light brown level 5-darkest blonde level 6 hair past the orange 🍊 stage and it turned almost white!! I run hot normally & take longer so now I only use 10 vol with it!! I wanna give the Kenra bleach the one that had the bond in it, a try but I’ll have to wait for my cousin who is a licensed stylist to get it for me!!

@junemedford3296 it really will be determined first by the level. Sounds like you want to lift to a level 9 the highest. Low and slow is the best way. Tone using equal parts 9-1 & 9-5...well on level, so if it's 10 switch 9 for 10 etc.

I know, its bc its on for 45 mins. It’s not enough processing time. The emoluments in the developer keep it hydrated for long periods and thus continuing the chemical reaction. You should do a minimum of 50 mins. In my own experience, a slight amount of variation of time yields noticeably different results

I'm not a stylist and I have been using the schwarzkopf lightner and developer for blonde highlights and yea since it says 9 levels I was expecting a higher lift but I have to lighten it twice. What %developer dis you use for the test? So did you use 1 part lightner to 11/2 part developer I got a little confused. What lightner and developer would you recommend to use to get the high lift with minimal damage? Thank you

Did I inspire the video? Soo many comments from me featured 😅 One thing, criticism is not hate. As an online creator it's best to separate that for your own mental health. It's part of being online. Learning not to take things personally makes it that much easier. If you don't want to listen to the comments you can chalk it up to it being a they problem. If you do want to validate whether it's actually something to be worked on or not, you can keep the ideas while discarding the energy. Anyways, glad to see the experiment. Here's my issue... We know that products often advertise more than they actually do. So what i would find useful is attempting to reach those results promised in the label, and i don't see that here. First... I expected the 9 levels to be achieved only in very optimal conditions, because it says "UP TO 9 levels", which implies that it's not the most common result. Second, 9 levels is a lot and i'm not even a hairdresser to know that... But i don't want to put something that powerful on my hair if 9 was achievable with 40-45min and 20vol. At least i think this makes sense? I assume that it lifts 9 levels IF everything is optimized, like using 40vol and maybe even leaving it on the hair for a bit longer. I certainly do not expect such a power in a more "normal" application, otherwise only people with pitch back hair could use it safely. Again, not a hairdresser, so i always heard that developers alone lift natural hair, and the rule of thumb is: 20vol lifts 2 levels, 30vol lifts 3, and 40vol lifts 4. So if your test shows a lift of 7 with vol20, wouldn't it reach 9 lift with vol40? Just a guess. And it might also need to be done on virgin hair to optimise. So in conclusion, i didn't learn anything from this video, but more importantly, i don't understand the point of it.... I do NOT expect this bleach to lift 9 levels in virgin hair with less than 40vol. And maybe i'm wrong, but i thought that most people used it because it has bond repair technology together with the good lift power. When i use it on my hair, i except a 6-7 lift, with 30vol, because i'm always afraid to leave it more than 40min, and because my saturation isn't great due to my physical limitations. We choose it because it's safe, not because it's very aggressive...

Understandable for how you feel. You don't want to put something extremely aggressive on your hair and you shouldn't put anything aggressive on your hair. 🤗 However, 30 Vol, 40 Vol, 50 Vol is aggressive to the hair. Anything Chemically related that is associated for hair service is somewhat harmful which is why 7 Vol, 9 Vol, 10 Vol, 20 Vol is considered less aggressive. Will it take longer to remove the natural melanin from the hair shaft? Yes it will, however it will process more gently reducing potential cuticle damage. As of the 20 vol = 2 lifts, 30 vol = 3 lifts, etc is completely false information that is causing people to subject their hair to more damage when misusing the product. The number describing the Volume level for the developer is to describe its "chemical" power, NOT lifting power. Anything 20 and less is aggressive to the CUTICLES on the hair shaft which in result determines if the hair will remain healthy due to the cuticle's ability to close after being forced open with the developer. Anything 30 and up literally blasts open the cuticle at a faster rate, depending on the number used, which can make it harder for the cuticles to close back to its normal position which then results in over processed and damaged hair. If swatched on same leveled hair samples for the same amount of time with 20 and up developers, ALL will lift very closely to obtaining the same level of underline pigmentation; However, 40 and 50's sample will have compromised hair as the chemical was designed to blast the cuticle open at a much higher rate for a longer period of time. The 20 is designed to carefully open up the cuticles so that they will close properly preventing permanent damage. 40 and 50 is great for experienced people who will work quickly for a small space on the head, not the entire head all in one application. The lifting level is determined by the bleach NOT the developer. The developer is only needed to open the cuticle for color removal or to add color. BLEACH is then used to lift 2 or more levels depending on the person's current level when applied. Lifting the levels has nothing to do with the developer. Technically, yes, it's strong enough to cause discoloration to the hair when applied on for a long time before rinsing, especially the higher up you go, but, again, it's the bleach doing most of the lifting. There's still more that could be said about this but I'll leave it here. Just wanted to help out the misconception as many people are ruining their hair because of misinformation. ❤

Unfortunately, your explanation of ratios/manufacturer's instructions just isn't accurate. Both the instructions for BlondeMe, and for the Kenra lightener you showed say X to Y or X - Y. That does NOT mean one or the other, it means a minimum of X and a maximum of Y, including everything in between. If it was truly one or the other, the instructions would say X or Y, but that's not what they say.

I understand what you’re saying, which is why I still tested it a 1:2 ratio. I’m confused what the issue is with your explanation. Unfortunately, your understanding of Kenra instructions is incorrect. I cannot speak for Blonde Me lighter however I was a full time regional educator for Kenra for four years traveling all over the US explaining how to mix and use all of the Kenra branded products. I can tell you for certain that Kenra teaches 1:2 or 1:3. There is no in between. And most brands also teach this way. In addition, Kenra is a sister brand of Schwarzkopf, Joico, Pravana… and I’ll let you figure out the rest.

It's not 1:1.5 or 1:2.5. It's 1:1.5 (-)(to) 1:2.5, so anywhere in between the two. The more peroxide you add the lower the pH thus less lift, hence 1:2.5 makes it weaker than 1:2

I think so too. It is definitely heat reactive considering a lot of hairstylists love using it and claim they get high lift. Personally everyone I know who uses blonde me and loves it on dark hair all reapply the product in foils to even get the lift they want. My purpose is to see which one will get me better lift without reapplying.

I did experience some swelling as well but most power lifting lighteners do. Usually a lower volume and lower ratio will help with swelling. Of course heat is a factor as well. I would start with tweaking your ratio and see if you can find a good happy place with danger jones.

You need to take in consideration when using this product on real people your going to get heat from their scalp which will make it go lighter. Rather than doing a swatch on a cold table. Just a thought.

BlondeMe is trash. It swells so much and it’s so strong. There are better bleaches. Blondor and Oligo come to mind. I might suggest if you continue to do these bleach videos that you use a heat pad on a very low setting, or preheating it and turning it up. Simulate body heat during processing.

I’m interested in knowing who and if the stylists is endorsed by Schwarzkopf. Other than that, yes most use/love it but I doubt any of them have used the variety I have tested. Bottom line, almost any lighter can get maximum level of lift reapplication, heat, time, mixing ratios. Use what you like!

Wella has done a great job in my other videos. Although I have not tested Oligo on camera, I have use that lightener and have had great results. I plan on making a video testing it for all of you. As far as the suggestion for a heat pad, I don’t think that would be a fair assessment across the board since temperatures fluctuate in room environments as well as body temperatures. I find that testing them without any heat in the same room at the same temperature gives us a really good gauge , and I think we can all assume how much extra level of lift we would get with warmth since we can see what the results are without any warmth.
