Dear god this was brilliant 😂 so much laughter on my end. Snoop did what my cat does (my cat is no longer allowed to sleep in our bed LOL), and I remember what sleeping alone with a Boxer dog was like so I felt for you big time. My husband will see me alone in bed but almost falling off because the cat is laying beside me, and says why don't you move her? Love this so much! Try putting the board across the fire so the flame hits the middle. When it burns it'll break and fall into the fire. Easy peasy no need to cut them! :)

Just a couple of suggestions for the next trip, The kindling (small sticks) goes under the big logs. Cook over the fire after most of the flames die down so you are cooking on wood coals mostly. Don't make such a large fire. FYI for anyone who doesn't know, never leave even a smoldering fire unattended - not even for a short walk, a trip to the restroom, or when you go to bed. Get some longer handled collapsing hotdog/marshmallow forks so your hands don't have to be so close to the heat of the fire. For being inexperienced campers, I'd say you did an awesome job.
