Күн бұрын

We introduce our kids to Razzles and Whatchamacallit candy bars... what simpler times those were. Who do you think ate a Warhead longer - PC or Lola? 2020 is a weird year. We promise to continue making songs, skits, and vlogs to keep you smiling. #80scandy #halloween #tastetest
Thanks for being here! We’re Kim and Penn Holderness of The Holderness Family. We create original music, song parodies, and skits to poke fun of ourselves, the world we live in, and (hopefully) make you laugh.

Does anyone else remember candy cigarette GUM? It was little sticks of gum (similar to Bazooka in flavor), wrapped in paper to look like a cigarette. It even had powder inside, so if you blew hard enough, you could make a little puff of "smoke" come out. I thought I was soooooo cool with those! LOL

I was a 70's kid, but a few of the 70's candies were still relevant in the 80's. Wax lips and candy cigarettes were both popular. We ate "penny candy," which was loose candy, usually wrapped, that you would fill a small bag and pay 25 cents. (This was around 1972 - 1976) I loved shoestrings, which was thin cherry or strawberry flavored licorice, squirrel nuts: some kind of seed mixed with molasses, Mary Jane: a peanut butter and molasses confection and SweeTarts, which was the texture of a chewable vitamin in a candy. There are too many candies to mention, but I also liked to freeze candy bars like Marathon and Charleston Chew. Another Holderness class that also touches the child in everyone. What's more important to a kid than candy? Thank you for another treasure.

Whatchamacallilt candy bar - I remember the ads. Begged Mom to get me one and the best part was a chocolate layer they had inside it. A few years later I got one and that layer was gone. Not many recall the original, sort of like the Cadbury Creme Eggs. I recall when they came out and the inside was creamy and the chocolate was so good. They changed the recipe in the 90's and they haven't been the same :( There were two kinds of candy cigarettes. One was the stick the other was gum rolled in paper (imagine the shape of a cigarette) and had powder in it. You blew and it looked like smoking. Never made me want to smoke. I liked the stick ones. Dunno what the fixation on tobacco themed candy, but there was gum called Big League Chew There's a lot of candies that stuck around, some can be hard to find, but there are a couple vintage candy sites. Here are some of my favorites circa 1985-1989: Fun Dip. Necco. Smarties. Root beer barrels. Brachs candies (caramels, fruity chews). All the tootsie candies. Nerds. Chupa Chups. Spree. Mini Skor bars. Zots (rare, but amazing). Bit o Honey. Lemonheads (Applehead, cherryheads) fun size big hunk. Charleston chew. Jolly Rancher fire sticks. I always liked getting the vampire wax lips but they tasted gross. Pretty sure my pancreas is taking a hit just thinking of all these.

The peanut butter bars , chic o' sticks and watchamacallit's were bomb and we used to get the wax lips and wax cola and fruit juice bottles as fun little stocking stuffers during Christmas along with the traditional oranges an apple or two and the crispy chocolate Santa's and coins. My step dad kept a stash of the peanut butter bars and chic o sticks in the glove box of his ol 69 Ford truck lol lol ,fond memories of my 80s childhood!!👌👍😁😁😁😎

Hi Holderness family! My mother would give us Necco’s. Flavorless discs that came in a wax paper like roll. And she thought they were a treat. Ugh!! I still cringe when I occasionally see them. A few others that were big in the 80s were Mary Jane taffy like candies, Charms pops lollipops (we could get them in the school store). My favorite, Sugar Daddy Carmel lollipops and sugar babies were bite size pieces. I am pretty sure there is some place you can get these things. On line or at Cracker Barrel because they have a lot of retro candy. Was a fun video to watch!!!

As someone who sold numerous cartons of candy ‘cigarettes’ at my former grocery store, I can assure you you that they are still sold in the United States. They are called candy sticks, and the boxes just might look like vintage cigarette packaging. They no longer have the pink , and you can’t blow into them and have the puff of powdered sugar come out the end imitating smoke. Did I feel bad selling them? Yeah, kind of. I loved them, and I have never been a smoker.

I am able to still buy candy cigarettes at Big Lots. I bought them one year for my nieces and nephew, they loved them. Do you remember the bubble gum candy cigarettes? If you blew on it for a few times it would release "smoke" sugar...

Tootsie Rolls Candy Corn Chocolate inside Lollipop And of course my all time favorite AIRHEADS Cherry or Blue Raspberry Individually wrapped full sized bars, Google.com says about this candy, "Nothing beats the tremendously tangy, playfully chewy chew of Airheads candy!" When I did games at my childhood in 2003 I would get excited over winning AirHeads for candy. My sisters favorite was tootsie rolls. Those chocolate rolls were too hard to chew the chocolate and it hurt my teeth but was delicious. Thank you for doing this video I feel like a kid again remembering my favorite prizes as a child. 1.AirHeads 2. Tootsie Rolls 3. Tootsie Pops candy (basically tootsie chocolate inside the lollipop) 4. Dum*Dums Lollipops My favorite flavor was Rootbeer 5. Of course who could resist See's Candies Lollipops Caramel or Butterscotch 6. Gummy worms 7. Smarties 8. Gum Drops 9. Nerds 10. Rascals Fruit Shaped Candy 11. Kisses chocolate
