Not sure why I was randomly suggested this video as I stopped shooting canon a few years ago 😂 but it’s cool to see an RF 24 prime, definitely my favourite focal length so if I ever end up back on canon I’ll for sure pick this up. Nice first video, really well done!☺️🎉

Thanks so much for watching! What system are you using now instead of Canon?

Hello and thank you for this video. A few days ago I bought this RF 24mm f1.8 Macro is stm lens. I find this lens fantastic! It is in my opinion much better than the RF 16mm that I had the opportunity to test and that I did not like at all ! This new 24mm RF has very little distortion and very little purple fringing on high contrast ! On my Canon RP camera, for Landscapes and Street Photo, it will be a very good complement to my RF 50 f1.8 which I use for Portraits !... I can't wait for DxO to provide us with the RAW+JPEG Correction Profiles for use in DxO Photolab Friendships, Philgood...😜

I really want to love this lens but that distortion. I also have the RF 35/50/85/16 and the 24-105L and RF 70-200F4 and wanted the 24mm for family trips where the 35/50 is too tight. Restaurant is one example. I always had the Sigma 24mm F1.4 ART when I owned the 6D2 but got rid of all my EF lenses when I moved to RP/R and now R6. Its too bad Sigma wont make RF lenses for Canon.

Ugh I know I am SO disappointed about the news of Canon pulling third party lenses. I have been dying for Sigma to release 1.4 ART lenses for the RF system. Curious how you like the 85 f/2. That’s next on my list, I think…

Seems that we’re all in the same boat!

That distortion is because she doesn't have lens correction on though. Same with all the RF lenses. Once you have it on, there's no vignetting ordistortion.

@@lsamoa i did end up buying it. Its great for video.

Include an Amazon affiliate link in the description. Helps in the long run with a) the more videos you've published in a related field and b) once you're ready to add the "funnel" to your channel. 😂👌 Lovely video, and good luck!!!

Interesting thoughts. I was stoked to see a profile for the 24mm in Adobe by the time I had the lens, although I’m not sure about the 16mm profile, whether it’s quite right but that 16 is a tough lens to edit to.

This lens itself distorts like crazy and relies heavily on the digital correction.
@caitlineye2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the distortion is very visible with landscapes/cityscapes that have a clear horizon line.
@peterebel78992 жыл бұрын
... and? .... Use the equipment in the core of its strengths! Lightroom cleans up the distortion if you do not prevent it from doing so. But if you have people in the corners it is often better with barrel distortion, no flattening out.
@kashifswaynerobinson2 жыл бұрын
@@peterebel7899 no, it’s bad optic design. The distortion is atrocious, you loose parts of your composition to corrections, that is unacceptable.
@peterebel78992 жыл бұрын
@@kashifswaynerobinson Your argument is wrong: You do see the corrected picture in the EVF/on the screen prior to shooting. Canon decided to take advantage of the on board computing when it comes to - focussing (replacing mechanics and enabling other optical formulas) - exposure (replacing mechanics and enabling other optical formulas) - image stabilization (replacing mechanics and enabling other optical formulas) - optical corrections (replacing mechanics and enabling other optical formulas) What is wrong about this in a digital camera?
@kashifswaynerobinson2 жыл бұрын
@@peterebel7899 Look at the corner of a corrected image in light room, uncheck lens correction and tell me if that distortion looks natural to you. Bro the image is stretched so badly, it look sbad even when corrected. This is primarily a video lens, and the performance is worst than that of the 35mm, I own both. This 24mm hunts for focus in macro very hard. 35mm does not.

Am wondering if you could help me know what lens is perfect for wedding shoots
@caitlineye2 жыл бұрын
I think wedding lenses are different for everyone. Do you like to shoot primes or zoom lenses? I would have different recommendations depending on your answer.

August 31st the package with the preordered lens showed up. After a weekend with event photography: This lens has lots of strengths and only minor flaws. Mostly shot wide open, lots of keepers - may it be in bright sunshine, may it be in dark cellars - may it be close ups, may it be steep perspectives, may it be wider scenery, may it be some portraits. Always use your equipment in the core of its strengths. For landscape I prefer the 15-35 ... anyway (and no prime)
@caitlineye2 жыл бұрын
I would definitely agree with you that in well lit conditions and NOT using the macro function the focus is a lot snappier. Will need to do some more low light testing to see how I feel there.

This is such a terrible lens. Canon: the brand I love to hate. Canon is like that super awesome girlfriend with BPD, which crushes up any good there may have been.
