If you can make it to 8 gigs of ram and pair a gpu something like a t400 or a 750ti then it would perform really well for 720p and 900p gaming.

Yea definitely, the t400 just requires 32 watts of max tdp so even puny 300 watt PSU will do it.

Bro to be honest your processor is really slow and even a 750ti would bottleneck it, i think a gt 1030 would be your max bet

a GT 1030 is more suitable for this CPU. On the other hand, an overclocked q9650 should reduce the bottleneck almost completely. I think the second option is more fun

The thing is q9650 or even a q9400 are really hard to find where I live so I am going to buy a lga 1155 mobo for my new i5 2400. The cpu prices are also going nuts these days.

Go for the 2gb variant, the 4 gig variant is only slightly better and costs the almost the same as a t600 which is far better.

I was not able to find i5 3470 or 3570 at good prices so i went with the 2400 and it works ok for me.
