Testing different chemicals for carbon cleaning

Try CRC Intake Valve Cleaner. I sprayed a can into the throttle body on my GDI Veloster and it made a big improvement to response and gas mileage. There were a few instances of engine knock as more carbon was breaking off and clearing through after the heat soak. But once I hit the highway for 20 minutes, and pushed the rest of the crap through, you could instantly feel the difference.

because BG44K isnt working as carbon disolver, it works just when its injected into hot enviroment, bg is enhancing the carbon that it can be burned off easilly. If you want something from bg, that works in room temperature, you must use bg air intake & valve cleaner.

Once valves are to that point all coked up , no chemicals are going to remove the carbon. Manual or mechanical cleaning is only method that can work on hardened carbon.Chemicals can only be used on new engines from the start with regular chemical cleaning before it builds up too much and hardens.

There are plenty of carbon removers used in restaurants that could do it though every effective one he would need high grade gloves and a mask.... Something else brought me here but my families owned restaurants going on 60 years... Just go to any restaurant supply store and look

Really baked on carbon crusts (piston crown or valves) can be softened with oil or LM 1420 over the period of some days. You can scrape off most of it afterwards with plastic razors or scrapers 👍🏻

just think when adding this stuff to fuel tank or spraying in throttle body etc... the valves are going up and down and around and around opening up and closing on the valve seats all the loosened up carbon is going right on top of the pistons and there's carbon on top of them also and they go up and down, now all the carbon deposits are scoring cylinder walls then some is getting in the oil pan so the oil pump can recirculate it through the engine

Hello good tests, your camera focus difficulty is there are other objects in the back ground that is capturing cameras attention prior to what you want to focus on, removing background objects would help your wanting object focus. Like the tests.

I found that spray gasket remover works when I sprayed a intake and it got on the pistons and carbon wiped right off!

Yeah I told ya that the b12 works very well. With my clogged injectors it take one bottle in the fuel tank and was able to free up some gunk and that's when i saw improvement on the long fuel trim. As we both know a cleaning was needed badly. Hehehe

When I had to carbon clean a TSFI Audi’s intake valves, the Seafoam and BG 44K were not very effective. I had the best results with Redline S-1 Fuel System Cleaner, and was better than acetone.

You should have tried brake fluid. The best one I found yet. Soak for 2 hours brush it off then soak again in new fluid. They come out looking brand new

Brake fluid is old skool cylinder head decarbonizer we used it in the early 80ies on straight 8 valiant engine,worked very well didn't have to take head off

To be fair to Engine Restore, it goes in the engine oil, so wasn't designed to break up carbon deposits like that. I've heard nothing but praise for B12 though.

I have great results with fireplace glass cleaner or stove cleaner with hydroxide content. Only on metal parts especially aluminum must be used with careful....

You should try the same experiment with crc intake valve cleaner. That really works well. You see the carbon getting eaten away by the crc

Pretty sure that those products have PEAs and other Detergents, its not just about dissolving it, the carbon needs to break down with detergents and heat
