I work for a church and do a lot of testing using a multimeter on 480 V package units. If I purchase rubber gloves will it prevent me from being electrocuted? And do I need to have them inspected often?

Stupid question from a layman…. Why would a pin hole affect thei effectiveness? Would the only risk not be from a hot conductor entering into that pin hole to make contact with skin? Or are there other things to consider also?
