I was ecstatic when I saw that HARPAD 12-string converter. I wanted one right then and there, but then I heard how expensive it was. almost $400 for that? I’ll just buy an actual 12-string guitar for that price... might be useful if you want to transform your J-45 into a 12-string or something but for lower-budget players such as myself, that’s not worth it. I mean, why even is it so expensive? It’s a big piece of plastic with strings on it, why would it cost that much?

It's probably not mass-produced, and it has to be really strong to withstand strings at tension, especially when it's so thin and oddly shapped - string tension could easily snap something like that in half.

I would definitely buy the Harpad. As someone who has a nice 6 string acoustic and only has a few songs written for 12 strings, being able to attach that accessory instead of buying another guitar for those few songs is a great value.

That submarine pickup, if it was made well, would be a good idea on your low strings through an octave and then into a separate bass amp. I knew a local 2 piece band where the guitarist did that to good effect only he didn't have the extra pickup to selectively choose the bass strings.

the chordinero is cool. the only major difference between that and alt tuning is that standard finger patterns still apply --- the weird alternate intervals between strings is only true at the open (capo'd) string

Hey sammy don't know if this is worthy of the list but I recently ordered a PK-01 pitch key (no known brand name) and its essentially a D-tuna for fixed bridge guitars and instead of fitting on the bridge it goes behind the nut on the selected string, it's primary use for most guitarist is a quick de tune to drop D but is good for alternate tunings. Retails for around & £20 and takes seconds to install

That banjo thang created a sound that reminded more of the Dan sitar guitar. That capo is intriguing. Have you tried one that lets you have open strings? Ed Kuepper uses them to great effect.

The high string in the courses of a 12 string are an octave higher than standard tuning, so they’re all gonna be super light strings relatively similar if not the same in gauge.

My daughter gave me one of those shirts for Christmas one year. I played it at a gig that New Years Eve. It went over great. People were running up taking pictures through the whole song. I'd actually like to try the Chordinero but no capo I've ever tried will fit/work on my guitar. It's a Strandberg Boden with the oddly-shaped endur neck
