Used the X-talon Ultra 260s for the Dartmoor Circular, and while great in the mud, absolutely LETHAL on the wet rock. I have never fallen over so many times on an ultra run! Therefore, hoping the Mudtalon Speed will offer the required grip from the combination of differently shaped lugs and the stickier compound. Thanks for the video, and those are my favorite Cornish weather conditions, suits my "tractor" style running abilities :)

@@Run4Adventure no. I am subscribed.. but I watch it from time to time. Was it extra hard to make this one? One thing I miss, few more big mud splashes in close up. It is USP. One more.... u had mentioned good water drainage system, next time show it in close up, as well. One more.... press the front cap to show how soft it is. I think viewers like to see u do the walk what u talk. U know what I mean? Don't only say it, show it, in 3-5sec. Hit the rock if you need to show it in downhill run

@@Vjekoslav-vf3hr Thanks for Subscribing 🙏 There was close up mud shots in the video. The problem with doing that is I have to clean the camera after everyone because it gets covered in mud. I totally know what you mean about showing what I’m saying, that’s why I put so many overlays in our videos. Obviously all those overlays take a lot of time to film and to edit into the video. The run in this video was only 11.2 miles but with all the filming and stopping to turn the camera took me over 4hrs to film! 👍

These shoes look awesome. I love the Talon 260 so this could be the next step! Only potential drawback for me is 4mm drop, never run anything lower than a 6mm drop. Thanks for a great review loyd!

A 2mm difference shouldn’t make a lot of difference Jim, you probably won’t even notice it 👍

The mud that gets stuck tends to be the dark peaty stuff in the mountains. Very few shoes will shed that. Sometimes minimal lugs are best for that but that configuration doesn't work so well elsewhere as there's not enough rubber on rock, roots etc. I think Inov8 have gotten their lug design about right for the intended terrain.
9 ай бұрын
Grey dryish clay that we have here in southern Finland also gets stuck pretty hard. Luckily it is not the most common type of soil around here. Most types of peat we have shed off pretty easily.
@sdemosi9 ай бұрын
@ never run in Finland but I hike and run in Ireland and the UK regularly. I live near a mountainous area in Ireland where I run and hike most weeks. Irish mountains are very wet and blanket bogs are common. Trails tend to have lots of exposed black peaty soil which is quite acidic and will destroy the midsoles of boots if they are not cleaned. This stuff cakes soles and is very slippery. The more lugs, the more it gets stuck in the gaps in my experience. Too few lugs and the shoe isn't so good on the wet rock which is also plentiful.

@@sdemosi have you tried any studded shoes? Inov-8 oroc or VJ Bold X for example. I have the latter and the grip is unbelievable on mossy slimy rocks😃
@sdemosi9 ай бұрын
@ I've tried Salomon Spikecross but I didn't like the drop or width. That kind of overshadowed the rest of the shoe for me. They certainly felt grippy.

Grabbed a pair of these as was really excited about them, im a proper Inov8 fan boi! Toe box is great, almost Altra MT King like, padding and underfoot protection feel pretty good, lugs are great BUT BUT BUT the heel cup section at the achilles is a brute. The heel cup is high and my heel feels like it drops into the cup which proper aggravates the skin over my achilles. Im hoping these will wear in as i've only spent a few uncomfortable hours in them but i'm not hopeful which would be a real shame! Nice work as ever Loyd

Big viewer of your videos Lloyd, picked up alot of tips. Not a fan of driving and recording however, I'm in Bristol and see all manner of people doing makeup, using their phone or even tablet when driving and would hate to see or know someone has been involved in an incident with a driver recording a KZbin video.

Thanks for your concern Jason and thanks for watching the channel. I was filming with my GoPro 7 that doesn’t have a forward facing screen and I had the camera switched to voice control so it was no different to me talking to a passage in the car. The camera was also attached to a mount on the windscreen so I wasn’t holding it. I made sure the road I filmed on was straight and quiet when it comes to traffic. I’m really not sure you can compare what I was doing to someone putting on their make up using an iPhone! I made sure the filming was done in a safe manner so don’t worry. Also my name is spelt with one ‘L’ and not two 👍

Nice run! I still don't get why almost all manufacturers make so wide heels for shoes that are meant for technical trails. They will just twist your ankles more on uneven terrain (nevermind offering too much guidance on flat ground for some runners). Just imagine diagonally descending steep mossy or muddy hill. Narrow heels would cut through the top soil without twisting your ankles. Toe box shape of this shoe looks pretty good though 😃

Honest question from a North American. Does "Leave No Trace" not apply in England? I was always told to avoid the trails if they were that soft, but it seems in England this isn't the case. Not trying to stir things up, just honestly wondering.
