As an occupational therapy assistant, I heartily endorse Dennis’ use of OT services for outpatient rehab😊😊😊. Just get a referral from surgeon. Humbly, we do pretty amazing work!

I have had the same surgery and you are correct in that the recovery time is different for each person. However it is crucial not to push the recovery for that surgery. The main thing you should do is to make sure he follows his therapy regiment especially the range of motion exercises. Building strength back into the shoulder is and won’t be a problem for someone as active as your Dad. However keeping the complete range of motion in the shoulder joint can sometimes be much harder. I know he has all the confidence in the world you can handle the situation.. We all hope and pray for a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear about your dad I pray his surgery is successful especially in the recovery and that his shoulder gets back to his normal as it Can be. I had that done back in 1988 and they used an older method where they cut through all the muscles in your chest. I had to sleep in a recliner for almost a year. Hopefully they were able to do it arthroscopically.

Godspeed for your Dad's recovery. I had rotator cuff surgery and I can say it was literally a year of recovery until I felt 100%. Physical Therapy is the key, and I wish I had done those exercises religiously.

My husband had the same surgery as your Dad. My husband recommends that he stick to the six months recovery or he’ll hurt even more over time. We used the same “plywood” as you’re using in your shop. We stained it with clear color stain. It looks really good ! We used it in our horse barn tack room. I’d send you a picture if I could. Not sure you can do that here.
