best test ever .. right nowdays my test reached similar questions with the older jk and my battery is so small... only 90amp 48v setup.. always full .. or at least 90% safely full . which comes extremely fast even with 6 panels 240 watts if no loads... i was planning to setup my new inverter bms for that extra 10 amp barier feature and those relays to operate my fans to the server box ~~~ KEEP up
@GrantBurton6 ай бұрын
Thanks very much. If you are connecting communication between your inverter and BMS, then the max continued charge current set in the BMS should be reported to the Inverter, and the Inverter should be able to properly manage charge current up to that limit. I think the 10A current limiter function is more applicable (or one of its use cases) is If you are connecting batteries in parallel and not using any communication between batteries and Inverter. If that is the case, then you would have to set the max charge current on the Inverter manually, and if you want fast charge, set the charge current high enough to charge both batteries in parallel. The problem comes in if one of the batteries (BMS) disconnects, then the full Inverter charge current will be going into the other battery. That will quickly exceed the BMS charge current limit, and I think this is where the 10A current limiter will kick in. Let us know how it all works out once you have done the upgrade.

Thanks for letting us know… I’m sure there are still many people running the older JK BMS without any issues. I also ran two of the older 150A JK BMS’s for a year without any comms and they also ran perfectly well, but decided to give the JK Inverter BMS a try.

I’ve been using a Deye 8k with the first balancing JK BMSs and a battery made from three first generation leaf battery packs since 2020. I’ve just used voltage mode on the Deye while setting the AH the same as discovered on the JK-BMS after doing a full charge cycle, and it has been really accurate on matching the SoC itself. I want to try battery communication emulation with solar-assistant.

Hi Grant, Thanks for the insight and detail explanation of the Charge and discharge settings. I have a 16kw Sunsynk inverter working with 2 x 280Ah battery banks each using each New 200A JK inverter BMS. Both Batteries discharge together and are mostly the same Percentage SOC from fully charged until the solar starting kicking in the next morning. Then I find they do not charge together. My slave battery seems to charge at 43A while the master is charging at say 28A and the SOC will start rapidly picking up on the slave battery until it reaches 100% and after about 20 minutes the current will reduce and the master batter will then increase to say 40 or 50 A. I find it quite strange that they discharge equally but do not charge equally. The battery banks are exactly the same and have the same BMS settings. I also made the power cables the same length. The master battery connects to the inverter CAN pirt and i have a LAN cable between the two batteries I see the Sunsynk inverter reports the SOC as that of the Master battery which is always lower than the slave if in the recharging process. I do notice the calibration voltage seems to change from time to time and I make a point of changing the one battery to be the same as the other . i.e. 53.25V vs 53.22V. Do you have any idea why the batteries would discharge equally and not recharge equally?
@GrantBurton4 ай бұрын
Hi Leonard, it's a pleasure. You mention the SOC reported to the Inverter is that of the Master BMS only (and not an average of the SOC of both of you batteries)... this leads me to believe you are running an earlier version of the BMS firmware. What version firmware are you using? I think v15.11 was like this but later versions corrected this. I'm currently running and testing v15.27. Also, what CAN protocol do you have selected in the Master BMS... Deye or Pylon?

Hi Grant. It's taken me a while but i finally got my battery built a couple of days ago. Had multiple issues with terminals shearing off my batteries but that's a conversation for another day. It's seems to be working well apart from one issue. So, 280ah cells with a JK 200a inverter bms running 15-11 (thanks for all the tips on how to do the firmware upgrade btw ) It's talking to the Sunsynk Ecco inverter just fine. I've followed both yours and Andy's settings to the letter but I cannot get the RCV below 3.555v without getting a send / logic error. I've tried on the phone app and with the pc connected. Any thoughts on why this might be happening ? Thanks.
@GrantBurton6 ай бұрын
Hi, thats great news that you finally have the batteries built (not so great about the sheared off terminals). You mentioned you have followed Andy and my setting exactly but just to check... What is your SOC-100% Volt and Cell OVPR set to? These values need to be set lower than the RCV that you would like.
@kennyrodg6 ай бұрын
@@GrantBurton Good Morning Grant. So, my bad....I think. I just double checked and my SOC-100% was 3.499 when it should have been 3.449. OVPR is 3.448. I guess I couldn't see the wood for the trees lol. Thanks for the prompt to check it though, it's now accepted 3.450 as the RCV. I guess my version of following things "to the letter" did not pass muster. As ever, very much appreciated.

So..... what would the best settings be? Building three 15kw battery's with JKbms's for a Deye Hybrid inverter.
@GrantBurton6 ай бұрын
Hi Ben, the settings would depend on the specifications of the cells you are using and how hard you want to use the cells / battery, and how much headroom you want to leave for protection. I've been somewhat conservative with my settings. As an example, some of the basic settings I have been using on my battery setup: - RCV of 3.45v/cell - RCV Time of 1 hour - RFV of 3.35v/cell - RFV Time of 10 hours - Start Balance voltage of 3.45v/cell - 100% SOC of 3.449v/cell - Charge / discharge current would depend on capacity of cells. - Over voltage protection of 3.65v/cell - Over voltage protection recovery of 3.448v/cell - Under voltage protection of 2.6v/cell - Under voltage protection recovery of 2.65v/cell - Power off voltage of 2.5v/cell The settings listed above may not be correct for anybody else's battery / BMS though. As for the best settings, or the specific setting each person should use for their specific battery / BMS... I think those settings should be decided by whoever is building or setting up the battery (BMS) because mistakes could end up causing damage and being costly.

I have 2 Deye 8kw inverters, in parallel, and 6 200ah 48v batteries with all the negatives tied together and same with the positives which is also in parallel, I am pretty sure. I want to add batteries and the installer said the batteries I have are 280v, which is referring to the cells in the batteries, I think. Anyway I want to add batteries that aren’t the same as these because the ones I have aren’t available anymore. It looks like if I put JK BMS’s in the batteries and connect them all on the canbus, then dissimilar sized lifepo4 batteries will work because the JK BMS will protect them from over/under charging/voltage. Does this sound right?

How does the surge capacity work with these limits setting?
@GrantBurton7 ай бұрын
Hi, do you mean how much the battery charge / discharge current could surge past these limits before the current is brought back to the limit? I'm not sure how much or how quickly the Inverter / charge controller would react to massive surges, but I guess if it goes to far to quickly, it will just cut off. I haven't (and can't) test the surge capacity of the 150A BMS's I have... According to JK's website, they can supposedly handle a surge of 300A for a 2 minutes.... thats way more than my capacity of batteries could handle. I'm not sure is there is a surge limit percentage that would apply above the Continued Charge / Discharge limits in the BMS, but that might be a nice feature. If you have a high current capable BMS (200A) but only want to use a low charge / discharge limit like 50A, and if passing 100A surge, it must immediately cut off no matter what, but between 50 and 100A the Over Current Protection Timer (and current limiter for charge) is applicable.

Very informative video 👍 Sir can you please help me, I am using Deye 5 kW hybrid inverter with DIY lithium 5 kWh battery (106ah) with JK inverter communication bms (150a) Currently when I turn on the inverter on battery only (below 20% SoC) (no grid input, no solar input) the output load is not not turning on. As soon as I unplug the communication cable, inverter reads wrong SoC and it turns on the output load. Or when I give grid input, it turns on the output load. It's working normally on SoC above 20% .. I mean booting normally and turning on output load. Thanks in advance sir 🙏

Maybe check on your battery settings… Settings > Battery > Shut Down menu (3rd tab at the top of the Battery Setup page)… is the Shutdown setting maybe set to 20% This could be causing the output to turn off when the battery reaches 20% SOC.
