I used to love topshop jeans, but find the sizing is literally all over the place! I tried 3 pairs of the "same" 32x34 jeans and they all fit differently- two of which barely got past the thighs. To add insult to injury, the jeans I actually owned from topshop would only last about 4 months before the denim just gave out near the crotch. Sad, sad jean times.

Omg mom jeans are hell for pear shaped women. They fit the legs but not the upper thigh. I’m almost sure if they were a tiny bit bigger in thigh they would definitely be too big for the waist. I usually have to go up a size or 2.

Uhhhhg AMEN I have to buy like 3 or more sizes up in mom jeans because of my thighs. It is always absolutely mortifying trying them on when 3 sizes up won’t pull up past mid thigh! For context I generally wear a 28 and the only mom jeans I have found that fit (actually a pair of men’s Dakota jeans) are a size 36 waist I think 🙄😂

Im not pear shaped in the slightest (top heavy is a nice way of putting it) and I still find mom jeans are impossible to buy. They are always too small at my normal size so I go a size up but now they are too big. It's a shame because I love the style.

I think it’s annoying when two pairs of “size 14” jeans aren’t the same size, but it’s actually just nonsensical when two pairs of jeans of the same measurements ie. W32 L32 aren’t the same size... like what?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, it's not really nonsensical. It literally just describes the waist circumference and inseam length, and tells you nothing about the cut and size of the legholes. It's definitely frustrating though :D

yes!!!! personally i have a bigger bum and hips/thighs, but a smaller waist so any skirt that can fit over my hips and butt is way too big at the waist. I am a size 4-6 yet size small or 4-6 skirts are too big around the waist?! drives me insane lol. i have converted to only wearing elastic waistband skirts because of this.

You have no idea how much better this has made me feel, I’ve put on a bit of timber over the past year or so due to some health difficulties and I’ve found clothes shopping really hard because everything fits differently and I always think it’s my fault, literally cried in a Topshop changing room after trying on a pair of their trousers and them not getting past my thighs! I literally wore my miss selfridge mom jeans today and was just thinking how theyre the only ones ive ever found that fit me! I do powerlifting and weightlifting, so I've got huge thighs and a small waist and finding jeans is always such hassle because there's such a huge difference between my top half and bottom half! I'm so glad you've fallen in love with the miss selfridge pair too! I also tried on a pair in topshop dusing the sales thinking the same as you that if my miss selfridge ones were perfect, then surely topshop would be too... They didn't even get past my knees in the exact same size, I started laughing out loud in the dressing room like a madwoman haha. I love these vids, it really shows how messed up sizing is! I have been everything from a size 10 to a size 16 to a 'we don't stock your size' size (you know in those stores that don't want anyone who doesn't have the same waist size that they had when they were 12- not that there is anything wrong with being slim). 'Jolie' jeans at Matalan are the best Mom jeans I have ever tried and are the only ones I ever wear, so nice and comfy, I went back and bought 3 more pairs (2 in blue denim and 2 in black denim) after I tried them out for a full day. Even my highly critical 18 year old daughter said she really likes them, and I'm a size 14-16, 56 year old.

I'm really not surprised about the top shop disaster, they are like "our 38 is like a 34/32 in other shops, so unless you are either naturally really skinny or starving yourself daily, there's nothing here for you". If and it's a big if I try to get new jeans I have to get lots of chocolate and fizzy pop and ice or I truly can't face it , spent the last 6 weeks in joggers and T shirts painting clothes but that's coming to an end , 😭😭😭😭 dreading getting back in to every day clothes again . Honestly, at some point it's getting into false advertising; if it says 32" on the label of two pairs of jeans, yet one fits and one doesn't, then brands could be blatantly lying about the size of their jeans! (primark, I'm looking at you here) I understand why a size 14 could be different as there's no standardisation, but inches are inches and non neglible?? It truly baffles me how brands can pull this and get away with it. (conspiracy brain thinks deliberately putting sizes wrong so that women think they need to diet and the brands get a kickback; maybe a bit tinfoil hat, but after watching this tell me I'm wrong!)

I don't know. On one hand I know it's annoying when you have to try on a bazilion jeans to find ones that fit you, but on the other hand, I always think they might fit somebody. I am a UK 16/18 with fairly muscular legs (on top of being obese), and I have trouble with jeans fitting over my calves - but at the same time, some of my friends rave about the jeans, because not everyone has inherited their dad's legs. I also have a long torso, so 'high waist' often isn't high enough on me. And my thighs rub, so I prefer thicker denim (I mean, who wants to buy new jeans every month?) which us way harder to fit. I recently found a holy grail for me in H&M of all places (online only tho), in a UK20 (So I do have to size up), but man, they fit like a dream - thicker denim, goes over my legs, the back yoke is nice and triangular so you don't get the lower back flap - and they have like six colours available, and I plan on buying all of them. If they ever stop making them I'll be so upset. :D

Because the original post war denim by Levi's, Lee and Wrangler for men were transformed into dad-jeans for woman, and then became mom-jeans. They can be quite nice for men (if the inner leg is long enough) and a good antidote to the skinny curse.

I love your honesty in this video, it used to get me so down when Id order so many jeans in different and the same sizes and none of them fit... what's even worse is my boyfriend would be like "they're just jeans, you dont need to get so angry about them🥴"... but tbh if they were JUST jeans, why can't I just have 1 pair of lovely, snug fitting jeans - not jeggings, that give me the same experience as the models on the ads...

I used to work in topshop denim department and you could put 2 of the exact same jeans in the exact same size on top of eachother and there could be like an inch difference on the waist!!! You’d have to try multiple of the exact same jeans on to find a pair that fit!!

The best Monki mom jeans are the Taiki! (I have mine in extra long). They're literally the only mom jeans that have ever fitted me properly. would recommend if you wanna rekindle your love of the brand because they help me live my 1989 lazy tomboy dreams

I like the idea of this video but at the same time it make sense that not all the size 14 jeans fit you well - it would mean that every girl with the same size waist had also the same size hips and the same size butt and the same size thighs! My problem is always thighs, I'm for sure a size or two bigger in jeans in the thigh area than I am waist wise, so whenever I see you with jeans that come all the way up but won't button up at the waist, that's when I'm like... these might fit me well, actually!

I'm a 14 and wear a W34 in topshop mom jeans! I know their sizing is annoying but honestly (especially if you find them on sale) they are really nice!!
