I think they may be picking the treat by smell. After handling the treat, the smell is o your fingers. If you notice Dusty was smelling the top of the cup. Maybe give them a little more time to pick and push the cup. Cats are nosey and will look into smells. I think he would've eventually gone for the strongest scent. This was fun!
