The cheese knife is used for big blocks of hard cheese ( you call it Gouda i think) and it is in ( almost) every dutch household. In the Netherlands we get in stead of pre cut slices ( but we do have does) big blocks of cheese and slice it our selves. The cheese taste beter that way in my upinion.

Rachel I know it sounds really lazy but if you don't want to clean a lot of messes from the sandwich maker use parchment paper on it so the meltet cheese stays in there. Lots of love

The cheese slicer is for slicing cheese for, like, a sandwich. Most Danish, and I believe most Scandinavian, kids have grown up with a type of cheese slicer so you can get your preferred type of bread with a slice of cheese. Also, the cheese you used is likely to hard

The cheese slicer is a staple in every scandinavian home. We do alot of "open faced" sandwiches and cheese is the most popular thing to put on bread. If you get a good one, it´s a life saver. You could also buy sliced cheese, but alot of the popular cheeses are sold by block and not pre-cut. Also, pre sliced is always more expensive, and if it´s something you eat every day, you´re way better off buying a block and slicing it yourself. Cheese slicer also works great on carrot and cucumber!

The cheese slicer is a staple here in Sweden - I think I have like three of them (for different types of cheese) :D Did you know you can also shred cabbage (like in a coleslaw) with it? I've used it to slice cucumber before, but making a coleslaw using the cheese slicer is awesome! You cut the cabbage in half and then use the cheese slicer on the side with the layers facing upwards :D

As a Norwegian coming from the land that invented the Ostehøvel in 1925 («cheese slicer”), I am deeply offended😂 All Scandinavians have at least one of those in their kitchen (we have 3 and we use them every day!). The story behind it is that we eat a lot of open sandwiches and we always use very little toppings on them. Two slices of cheese is perfect for one slice of bread, and don’t you dare put extra on it, your parents will go crazy😂. Packages with sliced cheese is fairly new(it didn’t exist in my childhood, I’m 40yo) and more expensive in Norway. You should know that in Norway we only use it for three types of cheese: all brown cheeses, our most beloved cheese: Norvegia and the cheese you should have tried it on, because it’s available in the US: Jarlsberg. No go get yourself a jarlsberg and ONE slice of bread and think of all the meals you can make out of one single block of cheese😎

The George Forman grill that has the changeable plates one has grill one is just flat and I can’t remember the other one but it makes the best grilled sandwich’s and you can use any bread you like because it doesn’t have the triangle shape and if you’re try to eat healthier like less butter you don’t need it the sandwich still gets nice and crispy IMHO IT’S THE BEST WAY to make a hot sandwich specially grilled cheese but I’ve done ham and cheese turkey bacon cheddar cheese and ranch or some times granny apple slices BLT endless combos and a little healthier depending on if you use butter or not and whatever else you put on the sandwich and you can take the changeable plates out and put them in the dishwasher or wash by hand
