will be assessing whether i can use a 12v 2 stage pump i have in the shed, pumps low pressure large volume quickly till it reaches your pre-set pressure then goes to low volume high pressure if required.

@johns89683 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, just wondering do you have a pressure relief valve on the tanks or do you just hold open the regulator when on the surface to release air. Otherwise wouldn't the tank burst ? From the pump keeping on running.
@brownjessea126 күн бұрын
It uses an aquarium pump with a diaphragm. Working pressure is about 17.5 PSI. The tank will not get past that pressure because the diaphragm will stop pumping air after that pressure. No harm to the pump or tank.

any issues with heat from the compressor building up inside the enclosure?
@robertwilliams79092 жыл бұрын
You should add a electric pressure valve so when the compressor fully pressurizes the regulator it turns off.

Thanks that’s a great idea

I built essentially the same unit but smaller compressor and. an inflatable cooler float, no tank, two smaller 7.2ah batteries (1 hr each then switch) I use it for shallow metal detecting, works fine, but important to disassemble pump and clean inside before use, as the casting is rough with lots of loose bits, filter on outlet then hose.

To be clear, he is saying that when manufactured they leave metal "dust" in the head chamber and you need to clean it out before the first use. Remove the 6 phillips head screws on top with the black handle and you will understand.

I agree,especially for your setup that has no extra air chamber...all those fragments etc would go directly in your regulator..its a 10 min clean up job at best.

i got a tankless airbrush compressor i wonder if i could make one of these out of it if it only tutns on while your breating will the battery last super long ?

Hello Jeff may I ask have you dived down to 2.5m or 3m and stayed down for around 10minutes ? If not what is the max depth you have dive down to and for how long u stayed at that level? Enough air or Any light headiness
@roadstar499 Жыл бұрын
How deep was your dive? Could you breath easy at 15 ft or 5 meters? Do you have all specs or model number brand of that motor? Or do you think it could be better? Thanks for sharing

Hi jeff, great and down to earth job, please tell me how much pressure can you get out of that diafragm compressor, and if you can use a lower power compressor, because there are from 30 W up in the chinese market

How is this working after a couple of years? Did you end up adding a pressure switch to allow the compressor to cycle on/off?
@WorkbenchRestaurations2 жыл бұрын
cool setup.. just have one question.. if the pump delivers more air than you use, does this not put a lot of stress on the setup. i mean, the pump just keep pumping and build op pressure..??

Hi , I would a glass sealant like urathane , or silicon to seal the tubes as the glue for the pipes has only just stopped giving off odour and that was because I heated it with a hot air gun to evaporate all the remaining solvent, it worked but next one I build I will make that change , apart from that it really works amazing, such a lot of fun diving in another world, cheers jeff

I'm interested in this, and thanks for posting the video. It shows it really well, but why do you need the weights, are you too buoyant? I'm looking at doing dives just like yours, and to 30 feet or so.

How are you finding the coiled air hose? Would a straight one impede you less in the water?

@@jeffs3810 Thanks. In regard to air filtration. Is an off the shelf compressor 'oil/water separator filter' sufficient?

Does the compressor automatically shut off when the pvc pipe / floats are full?
@jeffs38104 жыл бұрын
Hi , no the compressor will continue to pump air at it’s rated max pressure hense the depth you can go is limited to this I found 7 mtrs is about the max , for me this more than enough, hope that this helps , to go depper you would need to have a more powerful unit and dive training, cheers jeff

I wanted to know about the hookah - I feel, I would not want to go deep with the hookah setup you have - since if you are deep and you need to get air QUICK since something failed in hookah setup, you would need to get to the surface quickly and there might be hazards like pressure injuries ( how about try add air-tank + spare battery + spare compressor ). i have no clue how to make all that work ? example if the compressor 1 goes out the compressor 2 starts running and if the battery 1 dies the battery 2 starts running also if the compressor 1 dies or battery 1 goes out it make loud beeping sound for 5-10 second. just thinking about the safety. also maybe air filter and water filter between hose & air-tank. also the hose is made for breathing air ? yes no? I see that the project worked nice. :) nice work! and stay safe.

do you have any safety concerns or back up system?
@jeffs38104 жыл бұрын
Hi no I only diving to a depth that if it failed I would just surface breathe out on coming up , no worries, cheers jeff
@SolarWebsite2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffs3810 The breathing out on ascent is the most critical thing. As long as you do that, even in an emergency, this seems pretty safe as long as you don't go really deep.
