Join me as I test my new small travel 300W electric kettle to boil water for making coffee with my Aeropress. Will it be more efficient than my current 700W collapsible kettle, or will it end up actually using more power by taking longer?
So far I am super pleased with my purchase, and think this is an excellent addition to my low wattage electric appliances for heating and cooking. Make sure you watch till the end to see how much power it used, and how long it took to come to a boil.
I hope you found this video helpful. Feel free to subscribe if you're not already, for more vanlife content as I test other products and visit new places. Thanks for watching!

Great vid, I am glad you spilled the coffee, it showed how a nice high edge on a tray is a very practical design Great vids and wonderful information. Here is very new personal story of. " so you want to live in a van down by the river ???" I am building up a used 2015 Town and Country mini van I just bought. At the age of 60 and nearing retirement, will live in it after I move 4000k across country for work in British Columbia , selling everything that doesn't fit. Returning one last time from near Detroit Michigan. I bought a newly safetied vehicle with 275k but great body, clean. The seller, to honor our gentleman's agreement, said he would safety this minivan for $8,000. I would wait for it. He needed to fix the airbag light ($700 module) back brakes, calipers and new park brake. It cost him about $3000 !!!! to safety, while I waited patiently 3 weeks for him to get the mechanic to finish the job while waiting for parts. A vehicle in Ontario , Canada is worth $500 and a free tow, until it passes a safety check. Very hard to buy a used car now. No insurance or safety , no test drive, even on dealer lot's .... crazy times. The seller did ask for $500 more when the work was done , I said, sorry I am poor, on a tight budget, but I understand if you back out... he didn't.... he kept his word.... I called him today to ask about using the remote start he installed which is great for heating in the morning etc, Good man of character, not as many left. So the final part of my autistic scale, manifesto is to do " $5k+ worth of invoiceable labor" for a $1200 bill in parts, Theory is if you start pulling on an engine, pull the wheel well tubs, drain all the fluids, it's all there ... in the open. Then the labor begins to be 15mins for this , 30min for that... youtube this, Hanyes manual that... (btw out of print folks cost me $60 for a manual now). The following work done for $1200 of parts from mainly Amazon.......some know how but mostly getting dirty and dealing with buckets of fluid to go to the recycle. $1200 in parts for a 2015 Town and Country minivan was: New heater core hoses, water pump, serpentine belt and pulleys, oil filter holder/cooler (3.6L issue !! $120 no plastic) , igniters and plugs, radiator upper and lower hoses and cap, oil pan gasket, front brake pads to complete all new brakes. Drain and fill the transmission, engine oil, coolant. While on jack stands clean up the undercarriage and spray paint with simple cans. The moral of this story is do it all at once for the price of one simple mechanics invoice. A water pump is $70 - $120 ....... brake pads $50 etc (NOT MOPAR !!! I used Mopar website to double check OEM part #'s ) For solar so far.... I bought the Ecoflow River 2 pro (800w / 1600boast) 1000w inverter type microwave, 115v mini bar fridge (44.5w/hr ) these I will also use as storage space as well. The fridge, if not powered, could also be filled with cans, etc not sure at 44.5w/hr . (it's a 85w fridge) installing a diesel heater for the fall and maybe winter .... pulling the stoy and go seats for storage in those big open tub. I still need to buy a 50ah or hopefully 100ah (went up $80 this last 2 weeks) 200w solar on roof, DC to DC (50a) with MPPT controller for alternator charging. No one offers a complete package you can put together yourself for a fair price.... but still looking, I will sub and like your vids, thanks for posting... be good to yourself those decades fly by so fast.... so very fast. Mark

I have the silicon collapsible, and it takes 400-420 watts to boil in 5 or less minutes for a medium cup of coffee. I also boil eggs and blanch veggies quick in it fast. I see like 3 or 4 % from my Pecron LF600 with 1200 watts.Since every watt counts when limited electricity, I may buy this one just for my coffee and hot single drinks. Thanks

Hi Heather, this looks pretty great. I was wondering do you think you could heat up soup in it. I'm trying to take as few devices as possible with the lowest wattage and this looks like it might be a winner. Especially cuz it's on almost half price right now on Amazon. Thanks for all you do and all that you share, sending prayers of gratitude for radiant well-being. 💜☮️

Thank you so much I appreciate it!! I have personally only used this for water, but i could see reheating teas or hot beverages as well! I'm not sure I'd trust it with soups and such for this particular one. I am going to be testing out a new "multipurpose" appliance that's supposed to do both cooking and boiling, but it uses slightly more power at around 500W. I'll update you on that once I test it out!
