Enjoy. I started off in a old cheap tent, in all weathers. Loved it. I do double up with tent, privacy tent and car camp at some camp sites. Just is more places to chill and sort yourself out. The little light you have I got too and used it on my last car camp. Best light out of all my light gadgets for me as small, powerful and compact. I got given a free camouflage net. Not used yet but I think 100% essential for blending in, especially for a wild camp. I bought the neck fan you showed on another video. Hope you have a good sleep. The air circulation will reduce condensation in your tent. Little trick, ear plugs on a campsite, helps in a tent as well as a alarm. Be careful your cat doesn't puncher your tent material with claws. You will be surprised how small holes cause problems. Stay blessed 🙏🏾
@zafiracamper7 ай бұрын
Hey HD - are you liking the fan too? Yeah the light actually will double as a car camping light too - I wanted something for behind me so this was perfect :) Yeah my eyes were all over Thea in the tent - as she can be quite clawy at times 😅 I’ve now bought some trekking poles and cord so I can use the netting if I’m able to :) I really like the idea of it :)

I’m 59 and only been hiking for about 6 or 7 months to me the next logical progression was wild camping. After watching countless videos on gear etc etc I settled on a Phoxx 2 tent, a Highlander Discovery 65 rucksack Unigear Camry P3 sleep pad and OEX Tacana stove kit .Naturehike Ultra Light Down Sleeping Bag Everything I bought thanks to many reviews and research is absolutely spot on perfect. Plus other bits and bobs. I’ve only done two wild camps so far with myself and my large dog funnily enough both areas have been around the North Downs actually The Greensand Way to be precise. The first in Limpsfield Chart the second in Scords Wood near Toys Hill both have been thoroughly enjoyable and gone really well. The way I’ve found these areas is whilst out hiking and using maps and OS App I find an area usually between two paths and do a recce. Unfortunately for wild campers in our neck of the woods pun intended Kent is very well served with numerous pathways, great for ramblers and dog walkers but not so good if you want to remain stealthy. Every time I’m on a hike now I’m checking potential spots then clock the coordinates using OS Locate and also mark it on a paper map. Regarding an interior lamp you may find a red light might be better as it retains your night vision far better, I tend to use my head torch although I did purchase this great little lantern with various levels of brightness and red light plus it’s a phone charger and even has a remote control unit. I’ve never pitched a tent on my own before I bought mine I had one quick practice run in a field next to Brands Hatch just setting up and packing away I was surprised how easy it was really. My advice is just get out there and enjoy the countryside, if you’ve got any questions for a very keen novice I’d be happy to help cheers

Hi ya, I’ve been a bit more random with the everything other than tent, just random bits I’ve found - so will be interesting to see how they fair up. For me (not so much at moment) but have been an avid trail long distance trail runner, so for me it’s the same as your hiking - I’m quite familiar with loads of trail routes, that should be cool for wild camping - I’ve seen loads of woods that are really quite desolate - I just need to remember where they were 😂

A nice little trial, always better to find out what works and doesn't before you venture into the wilds.😁 There is always damp below because of sweating, we bung out a lot overnight and don't realise it. I always try to air out any foam and even my sleeping bag. I would go for a bigger tent for a couples camp on a site though as you will have the car and can take more for comfort. We used to go really light pre kids when we just zoomed off on the motorbike all over the place to camp but it was so much better having a tent where we could stand up in or use camping chairs and a table. I have tents for every conceivable situation these days although I cant put half of them up due to being a ripple now or even get in or out of the really small one lol. I look forward to seeing your first trip for real and wonder what is the next obscure FB group that we have both joined. 🤪

The cloud up is a adequate summer tent.. Though pitching the inner tent first is never ideal in Britain... you actually want as big a vestibule as possible, you may have to cook in the vestibule if the British weather plays up.. always pull your guy lines out as far as possible.. don't put your pegs straight in the ground , always put them in at an angle ( pointing away from the tent ).. if you need any help or advice, just let me know. Take care out there.
@zafiracamper7 ай бұрын
Many thanks Juan 🙏 Yeah I totally realised my error with all the guy lines in the morning - defo will be another practice pitch before I/we go out proper (and yeah also realised the tent peg angle bit when watching another video afterwards☺️). I had thought this was an all season tent? Or is that just marketing?
@littlegrandadoutdoors7 ай бұрын
@@zafiracamper I don't think the cloud up is marketed as a 4 season tent... Though some unscrupulous supplier may be.. naturehike generally copy already established models ( am sure they are a Chinese company) .. the cloud up is basically the alpkit soloist. Always pitch it with its arse into the wind , you don't want the wind hitting the side of the tent... I have a naturehike cloudpeak 2. It's a good tent , but again not a four season, though it is an outer pitch first... if it is lashing down when I start pitching, my inner will not get wet.. I have a collection of tents , as there is no perfect tent .. they all do different jobs at different times of year.. it's about having fun and enjoying nature.. I think you mentioned it but maybe try a night on a camp site and then when you are confident go out and enjoy the freedom of wild camping. Take care out there.
@zafiracamper7 ай бұрын
Many thanks for the tips Juan and yeah you are right - I miss read (it’s 3 season tent). Yeah I think campsite will come first with the Mrs - I need to learn guy lines before I go solo - although I am itching to get out ;)
@littlegrandadoutdoors7 ай бұрын
@@zafiracamper guy lines are simple my friend !. Guy lines help pull the tent down into the ground , lessening the strength of the wind (That wants to pick your tent up and move it , by any means ). Making the guy lines as long as the surrounding area permits is the best option ( increasing the surface tension).. then make sure you can tighten the guy line with the adjuster. Once it is as tight as possible, then let it a tiny bit looser ( just so it has a little bit of flex.) Job done !!. Hope this makes sense and helps!. Any other area I can help ya with , let me know. Take care out there. Edit on some tents guy lines help keep the inner and outer seperate as well. Some of the peg attachments around the bottom of the tent keep them seperate too. ( if it rains and is windy , if the wet fly sheet touches the inner , your tent will leak.)
