I built my first gaming pc in 2007. I couldn't afford the core 2 quad q6600 or SLI geforce 8800 ultras. In this video, I kind of build my ultimate Dream PC from 2007. Minus the SLI 8800 Ultra's. I don't put the computer to the test in modern day titles, rather I test the games I played when this hardware was the best you could get.
I tested, Half life 2, Far Cry 2, Company of Heroes, and Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and the performance is all I ever dreamed it would be. I wish I could've tested Crysis, but as the old meme goes "Can it Run Crysis" really rang true today, as Windows 10 doesn't play well with Crysis.

The thing that killed Far Cry 2 for me was the ridiculous implementation of enemies respawning at checkpoints. I distinctly remember clearing one out, walking down the road maybe a hundred feet, and then getting shot in the back by a whole new group of enemies who had repopulated the checkpoint within like 2 minutes while I was still in sight of it. Not sure I ever started the game up again after that.

Oh yeah that would have annoyed me as well. I dont remember enough if that happened to me. I didn't during this testing but I only had one fight scene in the like 2 hours I played.

Man your story sounds A LOT like mine. We even built very similar systems back in that Year. I was poking around my New Egg account and found my complete build list and thought about trying to build it again haha. I doubt I'll find that NZXT

Let me share something with you, you might appreciate this: My trash guy (as we called him) cleaned out houses and apts for a living. He always dropped off any computer looking things to me. One day he said Oh yeah theres this modem thing in the back I'm gonna scrap it. I said let me look, it was a 'super computer' built by a millionaire in 2008. This massive thing has 3 8800 gtx cards in SLI. Q6600 chip. It has so many extras I cant list them. That was five years ago, I am still using it right now! I play a lot of online games and it works great. This is my first gaming computer and I have been into computers since 1979! Thanks!

@@TechTeardownYT Let me ask you if I may: Do you think a 1050 TI would do better than the 3 8800 gtx cards in sli? Thanks!
@TechTeardownYT
@TechTeardownYT 4 жыл бұрын
@@abundantYOUniverse I dont really think the 1050ti is worth the money anymore unless you can get it for like $40. But to answer your question I would think the 1050ti would be better. But without testing it I cant say for sure.

I'm still "rocking" the e8400/8800GT rig I built in 2008 (same Antec SX830 since 2002). It still runs Skyrim acceptably. I have been collecting components for it's long overdue retirement party tho. :)

Makes me sad seeing people putting old hardware in new cases. New cases are terrible and lack expansion and the vibes of the time.

@@ibobeko4309 Eh, depends really. Most modern cases have an over reliance on case fans when in general you only need two or four depending on the build. Plus its so simple to buy a newoldstock case that I feel like this stuff is just kinda zoomer cringe
