I have one you can buy ultrasonic cleaning fluid for it. When I do it you will see the muck coming of the coins as you put them in as long it's at the right temperature. Don't over do it as the coins come out to clean and ruins them.

To clean metals that are encrusted with rust etc a light acid such as vinegar, lemon juice and possibly apple cider vinegar. Allow to soak for at least two hours and then place in ultra sonic cleaner with a squirt of washing up liquid to descale what the acetic acid has loosened. I recommend testing the process on a standard coin to check for metal erosion before trying it out on possible semi precious ancient coins.

I've been thinking of getting one of those, don't know I might go with the Tumbler instead

MD Melbourne yeah tumblers also work well. I thought I’d give this a try. I want to get some ultrasonic cleaned and try that. Hopefully it will clean them up even better. Cheers

I thought you had to leave stuff in it overnight or longer for best results with a drop or two of detergent in these ultrasonic cleaners. I have heard of guys using isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) on plastic model kits which gets the releasing agent off them and there is a product call Sea Clean 2 which is made for them and probably a heap of others out there on the market. Others say to use nothing but purified or demineralised water in them and let the ultrasonic bubbles do the work.
@victoriangoldhunters
@victoriangoldhunters Жыл бұрын
@CaptainBax with these ones you can’t use them for more than 15mins at the time (recommend). You need to let the machine cool. Perhaps there are some on the market that you can leave overnight though. Cheers 👍

@@victoriangoldhunters OK, I didn't even know these cleaners had heating elements in them but makes sense for cleaning car parts and the like. Those scale modellers I heard talking about them probably never turn that function on as it would melt their plastic models. Only other time I heard people talk about them besides medical purposes was with cleaning gun parts and if I remember correctly they were using a product called Shooter's Choice. Cheers mate & thanks for the reply.

If the coins are corroded, it's possible they could lose even more material.

Actually put the chemical that the jewelry cleaners use that you put inside of the machine when you're doing it if you watch the videos on how they instruct you how to use it they tell you to put the acetone stuff I don't know whatever called into the machine and put like water in there and then put like the things in there and then also put in that soapy kind of stuff in there and then started it up

I have used bi carb soda and room temperature water for the last 30 years on electronic switches and other mechanical parts. That is the safe option rather than chemicals. Please don’t go near the active cleaning unit with your microphone, it sounds horrible to me. cheers Dave 🇦🇺🍻⚒

I just watched a video by a small engine repair guy. He provides some awesome tips on how to clean things with different solutions in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIWxaGB5bJeYfqM He uses petrol, dish detergent and something else. I've also heard that white vinegar works well. The video is well worth checking out. I'm currently hunting around KZbin for ultrasonic cleaning videos because I'm thinking of buying one to clean coins.

@Brad Griffin Thanks for the tip and link to the vid. That’s a great vid and interesting how he uses plastic jars and puts whatever he is cleaning in that and then into the ultrasonic cleaner. I would never have thought of that. Thanks for sharing!! Cheers 🍻
@BradGryphonn
@BradGryphonn 3 жыл бұрын
@@victoriangoldhunters Too easy, mate. Yeah, the jar thing is a great way to keep your cleaner clean :o). I'm not sure whether to spend big money on a cleaner, or just get a cheaper one to try out. They from fifty bucks up to the thousands.
@victoriangoldhunters
@victoriangoldhunters 3 жыл бұрын
@Brad Griffin yes definitely a great way to keep it clean ha. I started with this cheap one just to see how it goes. I still need to do some more tests with other solutions. But so far happy with is one. Cleans the gold great just in warm water and bi-carb!! I should post a vid of the gold clean up 😁

You've got to use the the chemical stuff that will actually eat away at the at the like all that you can't just use nothing in there you got to actually put like the stuff in there you know like I don't know what it's called but you got to like actually like put the couple drops of that stuff in there with all the stuff that that actually makes it going to come off you know what I mean
