I thought she was gonna do cheese too... prob could spread some orangey buttercream on a parchment paper spread it thin-ish then cut the edges so it's like a squared piece of cheese, refrigerate it for 20 mins then place it on the cake. Pretty easy to do

Even when the cake layers are uneven you can trim them and make them even. And for all the people who are amazed that a Grocery store doesn't bake their own cakes... I don't know of any that do anymore. In our store we do bread and buns and scones and banana bread but everything else comes in frozen and they pan it up and bake it. Cake is a different story because the bread ovens don't translate to mass cake production. I have made hamburger cakes but mine has never looked like this, trust me.

Most grocery stores do have their bakery items shipped in, frozen. For this reason, I never buy them. When I'm looking for a cake for a special occasion, I always go to a bakery that specializes in fresh, made to order cakes. I don't mind paying more for a better product.

I don't know where she works but most grocery store bakeries use frozen cakes, some even use frozen pre iced cakes. Usually the icing is also pre made. A lot of work and time goes into cake decorating and in my experience stores don't budget enough hours for these bakeries as is let alone to make cakes from scratch. The store I worked at made the bulk of their own buttercream and even that was a lot.

If I bought this I would be disappointed since it's only one layer of frosting and nothing else is frosted. I feel like the cakes either have wah too much frosting or in this case not enough but that's just my two cents

That’s normal for any grocery store. The cost would be insane if stores had to bake their own cakes on top of all the other bakery products any store sells. Also if the cake was cut the insides would be exposed which typically isn’t ideal. Imagine paying local bakery prices for a cake from WalMart.

They make these at my local grocery store but, theirs is actually better (not trying to be mean just being honest.) They use icing on to and sculpt the cake to actually look like buns. The top cake doesn't look like a bun.
