Testing Patch Notes For DLC2 | Remnant 2

Testing out some of the builds with the expected changes in the DLC Patch. While this is not a concrete test, it should give you an idea of where some builds stand given the information available. While we will definitely be using some of the DLC weapons/Traits/Trinkets to further buff these builds, It would be super weird to nerf crit/dots/mods and then buff them with items in the same patch, so I'm keeping my expectations in line.

Tanky leech builds arguably got a buff: while we do haveto move away from the NW grudge and pretty much crit alltogether; the new indignant fetish triggers on self damage as well, granting permanent 20% more damage and a whopping 10% flat DR

I used it a bunch even without status duration. It was still decent DPS on top of whatever else you were doing. Although I use it before I activate my turret and have it on the target the whole duration of the overclock so that could play a role in that. Either way it should be fine.

@@ViciousKell Yes dev do make mistakes, I agree, after all we are all humans, no game is perfect for everyone, I think what they lack is proper players to test the patch, before releasing it, in-house testers.. or maybe outsourcing it ? Idk GG is a small studio, and maybe lacks the budget.

These patch notes and the peek at Invoker screams Skill builds are meta now. I understand the nerf to crit builds, but dot and mods builds didn’t need as hard of nerf especially mods. Everyone in the comments saying this is good balance are wrong. As they been saying oh I have a 2k dps build and I get to actually fight the bosses. You know who else fought bosses me with mod swapper (I didn’t use corrupted Meridian, just Helix and another mod) and if you don’t believe the best mod build got 3.5k DPS. That was the best the rest would gotten lower than that and now all those mod builds are effectively dead now. Yeah good variety when Tank builds are untouched in most part. Am I upset with the changes no but this being released as the DLC patch leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This should of been given to us a week ago and not day of. Someone else said it, but it feels like buy this DLC or get bent.

So for the Engineer build what would anyone replace the Lifeless Heart with? It doesn’t heal anymore. It has 50% use speed now and provides no healing but still has the 20 relic capacity.

I was having so much fun as a glass cannon/crit build, no armor but crit damage and chance was crazy, couldn't one shot most bosses but cleared out dungeons like a madman. they even nerfed the Focusing shard ring so I don't have recoil control until I empty almost my whole mag. Why me bro.

One of the focusing rings (can't remember the name) got a huge buff. Goes to 70% now (was 30% - 35% before)

This entire patch feels like a kick in the nuts, across the board the changes are bringing down damage and that'd be okay if we as a player base were making encounter designs too difficult BUT they did not hit other problematic builds (like melee tanks you stated at the end of the video) it really is just a lowering of skill ceiling/player expression. Hopefully Gunfire takes some time to talk to us soon about the direction because right now it all looks downhill

Heavy carry also got hit by way of Metal worker's direct crit nerf, and all the other generic nerfs. It was a 5.5k dps build, while guns were 10k+ now i just hope it can keep 4k+.

4K is fine to play all the games content. You can reasonably beat the game on Apoc with like 3.5K. heck, I've seen people do it with far less. In other words you can still have fun.

Like I did apocalypse test run with those 6 to 10k dps build before and the game was fun at first but very boring later. The most fun I have was actually with heavy cary 4k dps evader. Well maybe my own take since I hate invincible build and I like "fair fight" where I dance with boss rather abuse them. Some side note Hell mod was my most fun Remnant from the ashes maybe that y.

I was excited for the patch but pretty much all my builds I enjoyed playing died and I dont feel like spending hours reading the patch notes and sitting in the firing range to change all my shit :/ Also agree with your final point, like yeah these DPS builds did do a lot of damage but they have very little survivability and required decent skill and understanding of the game to get value out of them. But tank builds that let you walk through the game and now barely do less damage thanks to the nerfs are still there. I don't get it.

With the Crit stacking setup, using Braided Thorns and something like Corrosive Rounds will probably make your crit back up. Also not factoring in Akari War Band which is typically the last slot (just use a grenade if you want to walk in with it). It'll probably still be good on Plasma Cutter, Monarch or LMG/Blackmaw. For DOT damage, Eruption may be better and it is certainly better to maintain the strongest DOT for ENC. RIP Mod Swapper though. The nerfs mostly make sense though.

Tank builds according to Tragic are fine because the devs don't care if you're slowly making it over the finish line. They only care if certain tank setups dominate the rest of the competition.

Eruption now counts slow as a status and adds another stack. Also no longer needs line of sight to trigger Vile.

You do not improve build variety by making everything suck you improve it by making more things good/fun. This kind of heavy fisted nerfing always feels bad but this was an especially big one as so many of the most fun builds were hit. Feeling like the build variety went down as all that is really left as you said is tank which I hate as a playstyle. Started the DLC but definitely on a very negative note and can definitely feel each build way underperforming. Feels bad man

With the massive amount and sweeping changes also including in all new items I have no doubt that builds will appear that make current builds look weak. Different yes but way strong. There are people whose main enjoyment comes from putting together synergies that break games.

I won’t hate the changes before trying the game. But even with the positive changes, the new patch notes do look grim. To big of a overhaul. One thing I can say directly is nerfing the hardest obtained relics/guns/rings is a joke. Anguish/ tormented heart/ bitter memento/ nightweavers grudge. Anything obtained by the web thing is a nuisance to get with the rng chances. The reward should match your effort. anguish should be a s tier weapon and Don’t get me started on archon. Was excited to jump back in but having read through it all im more for fallout 4 next gen update instead. Hoping gunfire realize this was no fun changes. 😒

Honestly the nerfs are as bad as Helldivers 2. Idk why nobody seems to notice or talk about it. ALOT of videos of old loadouts that have WAY more health, armor, etc than if you were to use it now. Even my old tank build has nerfed hard. It's not even a tank anymore. Seems like there is alot of bugs too, sometimes the relics don't activate, or don't even heal even tho i have super high healing. I had to use 3 in a row to get it to activate.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't feel like mod builds should be able to just never shoot. Minimize shooting, sure. That said, damage of mods seriously need a buff across the board.

I can’t believe they nerfed anguish, a gun that is massive pain in the ass to get and that I honestly never got a chance to enjoy since by the time they buffed it I was done with the dlc. Super sad, love this game but taking player power is generally not fun like d4 patch 1.1

honestly it might feel really bad right now, but to me all this tells me is that we were spoiled, that 2k dps is the average they wanna aim for players to do that dont metaslave, and honestly I have beaten apoc many times already with suboptimal builds around 2k dps, its hard but doable so I am not going to weep all that much all things considered

I totally agree with you 6 - 10k dps was boring as u abuse the boss not fight them. I been clear the apocalypse run with many 2-4 k dps( heavy cary - evader hard core was the most fun run) and come to appreciate the hard fight come with it. I also really many enemies, boss have very cool atk that was never noticed because I kill them too fast.

Yup. People are talking about builds being "destroyed" or "dead" or "useless", but the meta builds are still doing like 1-2K DPS more than off-meta builds after the nerfs, so really it's just a normalization. Maybe mod swapper builds have something to complain about, but crit and DoT builds don't really.

I'm excited for the changes. Everything was just HUGS crit stack for so long. Now a ton of amulets and rings are going to start seeing the light of day. A bunch of my builds are getting straight buffed.

I find it odd that all the vids speedrunning or on-dodge/ignoring bosses were like crit/weekspot or lifesteal/tank builds but dots got the biggest nerfs. Oh well, "git gud" I guess. Gonna hit the lab and try to fix my Ritualist/Medic loadouts. I like challenge anyway, seems like my favs always get the biggest nerf but means I get to figure out how to work around it again. my main build is Ritualist/Medic, and tbh it still feels completely fine. the rage around the nerfs are a little overreactive. running new dlc on nightmare at first, and if anything, it just feels more scaled with the difficulty.

Yeah, i got the same feeling. All of your existing toys feel worse to play. There are no new toys to try out. It just makes your life worse because you still have to use the nerfed builds because the non nerfed builds still suck, probably. The timing with the DLC coming up also is bad optically.

@@Murbz My brother in Christ, this IS the patch with the DLC. The shiny new toys are IN THE DLC that comes out at the same time as the patch. And the non-nerfed builds largely "suck" in the context of a small set of builds being way out of tune.

Try actually reading the changes. There are 650 changes in the notes. 58 are small nerfs akin to 5% here and there. The other 592 are buffs in the same vane. Overall the patch looks very good.

Status damage was tweaked to allow slow to count and benefit from everything that increases per status. So, work slow into your DoT builds and damage should technically increase.

The game had a lot of stuff in it that was not working as intentioned and was completely broken. All I hear from the community is crying about having to find another build and actually trying to get good at the game. Theory crafting builds is so much fun when you’re doing it with your friends.

I know a lot of people don’t think this way but finding new builds even if they aren’t the strongest or as someone said “it works but isn’t broken” is a huge part of this game. Not to mention it’s a video game. If something that was meant for you to have fun with messed up your day that much then maybe they need to do something other than play video games. Idk lol. So much butt hurt over pixels and imaginary numbers.
