A little bit, but much better! Pink sugar smells a little "cheap". Furthermore Aqua e Zucchero has a salty note as well. This is the interesting part of it. You smell something sweet and salty at the same time. Very unique.​@@annacama8313

For me Gris Dior was a bit of head-scratcher. I got a sample from a friend and it was so rosy and beautiful and then I bought a bottle because I was so in love with the sample and it wasn't the same. Still nice, but just not blow me away. I checked the batch codes and went to the Dior counter to check if there had been a reformulation. Apparently not, but the rose harvest in 2018 was apparently so good that Dior used that rose oil for three years straight. My friend's bottle was from that harvest. Mine was late 2022 and so from a different batch of rose oil. Mystery solved but a bummer. 🤦‍♀️ I try not to obsess over batch codes but the difference there was stark.

Regarding Mind Games: Something I recently learned - extrait is just the concentration of the perfume oil to alcohol, it doesnt tell you the proportion of top to heart to base notes and the base and heart are the ones that count for longevity. Ive noticed this with this line overall, almost all the scent is gone from the skin in 4 hours. If not sooner

Yeah extrait just means it has between 20-40% of the concentrate of that particular fragrance...which doesnt mean it will be stronger or last longer because the oil may not be strong own it own 😊

Via Cavour 1 is on my must buy list as well. It used to be exclusive to their retail store or something, could have something to do with the "stealth" factor (Via Cavour 1 is the adress of their store in Torino AFAIK).

Totally agree with you on the Sora Doras and Narcotic Delight. Via Cavour 1 was an online and Turin store exclusive until last month - that’s why you did hear much about it. I didn’t care for Gris Dior either but the SA at the Dior boutique layered the Dior Prive Patchouli attar oil underneath Gris Dior and it was AMAZING! I don’t like many patchoulis but this was gorgeous. Having said that, I am not buying a bottle of GD they needs the additional $540/10 ml oil to go underneath it. You might be surprised by Vibrato on your skin when it gets warm outside. I’m in Houston (hot and humid) and it was amazing and not masculine.

Videos like this are so helpful. Sampling / decants are really the way to go. I have a decant of Gris Dior that I’ve been playing with for the past year. I like it too, but it’s also not a love even though I generally love vintage vibe fragrances. However, I wore it a couple days ago and the smell lingering on my hair the next day was heavenly. Thanks for the video. We are earring twins today!

I used to sample a lot but sometimes when a sample cost over 10$ and the fragrance is only over a 100$ or less or/and the fragrance is hard to get for example you can only get it on the brand website I might blind buy. There is definitely cases where I was happy to get sample first. Penhaligon changing constance for exemple, yes it’s delicious, but the fragrance isn’t strong and doesn’t last…. I love the bottle but I can’t justify the price point for a pretty bottle if the juice in it doesn’t last. I blind bought pdm oriana because it was said to be a dupe of love dont be shy by kilian which I love but it’s unfortunately not cruelty. Sadly oriana was a fail for me it’s too tart and almost smell like mr clean on my skin, I can make it work if I layer it with marshmallows fragrance, but at this price point I’m disappointed that I have to layer it with cheapies to love it 😂.

I am wearing Silky Woods Elixir today, and I love it! The projection is not amazing, but when I thought that it was only detectable close to my skin, I received a compliment from someone who was near me. I am not into florals, very sweet or girly perfumes therefore a little bit more masculine perfumes like this one are right up my alley.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found Double Attack wanting in performance! It's beautiful but it lasted for like an hour at most. I got a sample of Via Cavour and it was beautiful, although I found it just a bit like La Capitale with the fruit and caramel and oud (so redundant for me). Hi Jackie 😊 I love these videos. Double Attack smells so good. But - to me - it does not perform like Checkmate (10-12 hours) and it does not smell/perform like a $400. fragrance. When and if we ever get a great sale or if it goes to the discount sites, I absolutely would add it to my collection.

I’m so angry I missed the PDM sale! I’ve been dying to get Valaya (but not at full price) since last fall when I blew through my Scentbird decant 😭 I really appreciate these because it reminds me why we sample vs. blind buy! I’ve been surprised by how many fragrances look like they’d be an obsession based on the note breakdown but in reality don’t turn out to even be a like.

Hi Jackie, I got a free sample of Silky Woods Extrait from their website. Gave me a visceral reaction - the OG has a strong antiseptic bandage/ airplane toilet smell and the extrait was the OG on steroid!!! I washed it off in a minute and I have never done that!

Funny enough I sampled both mallow and celeste and I liked mallow but hated the other one. On my skin the violet was too strong mixed with the screechy DNA of the house had me gagging. Mallow started off so similar. Very violet heavy but the dry down on me is super raspberry sweetness and the violet disappears.

Hi Jackie! Celeste is on my wishlist too. I really enjoy Mallow, but to my nose and on my skin it's quite similar to La Nuit Trésor Musc Diamant. I have a bottle of that one, so I'm not in a hurry to buy Mallow. Too bad Casili didn't work out for you. I can see how the red currant, florals and muskiness could maybe come across as peachy. I'll need to try that Xerjoff... I've really enjoyed Marbella and can't wait to wear it this spring. It's musky, fresh and peachy... But I think it's wonderful. 😊 Peach is hit or miss for me. Loooove raspberry though.

I loved Amor Cafe at 1st sniff too but the longer it sat there's a harsh synthetic type note pushy through and changing the fragrance to me. I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

Cafe Cabanel sneaks up on you. I was not impressed at first either - I wanted more coffee. Now I appreciate the restraint with the coffee note and love it - it’s high on my wish list once I finish my decant. I LOVE Mallow - wore it yesterday. Agree - candied violets 💜💜💜 feminine and dreamlike….the stuff of fairies. 🧚🏻‍♀️🧚🏻🧚🏻‍♂️ I also love Celeste, she is simply lovely. Interesting - most reviews complain about the performance of Amore Caffe!? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Appreciate your approach to sampling first Jackie!

Oh my gosh! So funny you say that about Narcotic Delight - I had the exact same experience the first time I tried Side Effect. I thought I’d really like it based off the notes… instead I ended up scrubbing it off because the smell made me physically recoil. And then you mentioned you don’t like Side Effect, either - think it’s safe to say I’d probably have the same opinion as you on Narcotic Delight, too! Probably gonna pass on even trying that one 😅

Profunun Roma is one of my favouritr brands with regard to gourmands. I love Aqua e Zucchero ...and many others. Definetely worth a try in general. Sora dora is also a disappointing brand for me. Mallow was horrible for me, Jany as well, Mandorle the same.

Try soft by al rehab, it smells exactly liKe acqua e zucchero! And the performance is nearly the same! I actually tried soft before i smelled acqua e zucchero and realised, that theres no way im spending so much on the same scent🫣
