90s makeup during the Clueless period was actually very neutral or dark and grungy depending on what sort of group you belonged to. Think colors like Mac Twig & Mac Spice Lip liner. Eyeshadow was generally neutral. Not really colorful, maybe some glitter or white shimmery shadow. UD Gash & Chanel Vamp nail polish. Matte everything. Teenagers did wear the sort of clothes in the movie but the movie of course exaggerated what was actually worn and colors were a lot brighter and girlier in the movie than you might find in normal every day wear.
