The back stories on what these films were originally created to do is so illustrative of how they will perform, not to mention fascinating stories in and of themselves. As I listened to all of your variations on the "tools" you use to "tweak" an end result, I started to think about the notion that the film stock and the developer is a kind of chemical "Photoshop" or "Lightroom" - in a bottle (or wrapper as the case may be). Need to think about that some more and will have the next two or three weeks to do so it seems Not sure if I'm getting this right or not but - hyvää joulua - to you and yours.

Thanks, thanks. It was my piano adaptation of the Tchaikovsky Symphony no 6 (4th movement). It is one of the most beautiful compositions ever composed. I found it appropriate behind the Russian film. There is so much lovely and deep in Russian culture. It is a shame that it is under such a brutal dictatorship at the moment!

Ferrania P30 is also said to be less sensitive to red light, not as much as a true Ortho film but less than the usual panchro film. I once shot my red Mini Cooper which was parked under a tree (which might have acted as a green filter) but the car looked black in the picture. Thanks for another interesting and great video. Hi Ari, I really enjoy your videos. Thank you for your dedication. One question, could the pushed 6400 iso also be done with Rodinal somehow? 1/100 @ 60min stand developed maybe ?
@ShootOnFilm

I've tried to push it with Rodinal. My experience is that 1600 ISO is the limit. After that, it gets so muddy that I don't like it anymore. But theoretically, yes. Depends on what you like :-)

Hi, have a great Christmas and holidays. Hope you enjoy them quietly and in peace. Thanks for the testing the results are definitely something to think about. You got me inspired, it's just a week since i started developing film at home. I'll definitely start to experiment with more pushing, so far i tested only fomapan 100 (push +2) it's not great, on the other hand rollei rpx 200 was kind of better. I'll maybe create a video where I compare the results.

Loved the pushed HP5. I typically shoot films, including plus x, pushed one stop, to battle overcast skies, but 4 stops? I will have to try that this winter. Hey, if you like experimenting have you tried developing in Dektol paper developer. Did that for first time recently. You might like the gritty look. Have a wonderful Christmas season. This is my time to do some darkroom printing.
@ShootOnFilm

Have not tried paper developers. But I've developed in 70 degrees C (160F) to break the emulsion. And then I got not only huge grain but boulders and craters :-)

Yeah. It is a tragedy. Finland now being a NATO member and just a few days ago agreeing a mutual collaboration with the US (us will have permanent troop presence in Finland) makes our situation much better. But overall, I really love Russian culture and people. But what they are doing at the moment is cruel and brutal.

Hyvää joulua. Does the Ortho film leave tiny purple spots on the film? The Fomapan 100, 200 and 400 Ive noticed this in both Rodinol and XT-3 even with fresh fixer. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or if the film is just a "bad batch". Maybe it needs soaking for a month before use, or requires an ultrasonic bath to remove the anti-halation backing? HP5+ is great no issues but recently brought lots of Fomapan and that maybe the mistake.
