I prefer to use acrylic for a few reasons, they have little odour,are easier cleaned up IE brush and airbrush, think it's essential to pick up the decent to expensive acrylics brands to get anywhere near a lacquer finish. Lacquer gives a far better result and it's durability is far superior to acrylic. I build all sorts but haven't built a spray booth to use lacquer through my airbrush. I have cad software and a fdm printer so I'll be building one soon . As always love your videos and I hope you and the Mrs are well

Pretty good colors. I find acrylics tend to be pretty easy to use to problematicish depending on manufacturer and wether or not it is a opaque or a metallic and so forth. Lately I have been leaning towards acrylacquer paints. The odor is not as offensive as a lacquer and as readily available as the popular brands of acrylic. Awesome review my friend, really good stuff👌🏼

Metalics are cool, but i will pass on these i think, stick with my enamel & lacquer metallic paints. Now Robert im not color blind and maybe its lighting and camera but the dark green & blue, well they looked black to me, maybe theres a tiny blue tint to one. Im sure its just me though. Celestial Dragon...did i spell that right?....Anyway oh baby, $199 bucks for both Mobius air brushes....my wife is going to kill me. PS. I found a Rivet mark tool(s) on amazon, almost like the old no longer produced Rosie Riveter tool everyone seems to have. Thanks for the video. PSS. Almost 90,000 subs, getting there.

Finally! I've been waiting for this review for a long time - I've really come to love the Sunin7 acrylics. Between them and Vallejo Mecha, the only time I use Lacquers now is when I need something you can only find in a lacquer lineup. A few things I've learned since starting to use them regularly: 1: They're TOUGH. You didn't go over it in your video, but these are on the same level as Vallejo Mecha paints. I bent my thumb nail back pretty badly trying to scratch their Pure Black off a spoon, and the worst I did was slightly change the tint of the paint. 2: They're very picky/temperamental when it comes to thinners. I've resigned to just use their in-house and Vallejo thinners/flow improvers. Everything else causes issues like the splotchyness you showed, basically it's not blending/cutting properly. When I use their thinners, things like Copper don't have that rough texture issue you had, and you can use either their normal or metallic thinners and spray them like normal or do very thin coats to get a great polished finish - just make sure to clear coat them first as the metallics aren't as durable as their main line. 3: Their clear colors and gloss clear DO NOT cause issues when spraying on top of Chrome. I've played around with it and haven't had any dulling/reaction issues when spraying any of Sunin's clear colors or gloss coat over Alclad, Gaia, or Modo chromes. 4: These also play nice over other water-based acrylics like Model Master acrylics. I used their gloss clear to coat some pieces painted in MM's Arctic Blue Metallic and the gloss coat stuck no problem, and made the pieces tough as nails. They take a bit of getting-used-to but once you've gotten the hang of them, these paints are fantastic.

When would you use acrylic vs lacquer or vice versa? I'm new to these paints just learning. Thank you for the videos. Thumbs up from me
@danzo55219 ай бұрын
Acrylic is usually less durable, less glossy but doesn't use some of the stronger solvents that are harmful to your health if inhaled. Acrylics can be good for weathering because they can be thinned with water or alcohol and cleaned up later. Acrylics also don't reactivate previous layers of paint because they don't contain those solvents I mentioned, so you can spray them over any other type of paint. The solvents in lacquers can melt enamels and acrylics if you spray it over those two. Lacquers are durable, can be very glossy, and can be heavily thinned to make airbrushing easier, but the solvents require some type of spray booth or exhaust + respirator with organic vapor filters

@Auchaser6439 ай бұрын
Acrylics have come far. I understand the safer component of it (still not healthy to breathe in those resins) but they just can't handle anything touching them for a week, sometimes more. Even with primer and top coat varnish they are brittle. I started with acrylics, namely Vallejo model color before I went to the mecha line and while the mecha line is definitely sturdier you still get scrapes, I had a model fall due to someone knocking it over and even with a primer + thin coats + varnish + 2 months of drying untouched the paint chipped. I bought a booth to go with my respirator and bought lacquers, acrylics are too much of a pain. The only color I do miss is the Vallejo blue gunmetal, beautiful color.

I think that to prevent that texture from coming out, you have to spray much thinner layers. and the surfaces must be very clean, that is the bad thing about acrylic paints.

You don't think the tamiya acrylics are better than game air? Or to you treat them differently because they're a different kind of acrylics?
