Testing the 2022 Shimano ALDEBARAN BFS - First Impressions and Review

The new 2022 Shimano Aldebaran BFS reel has arrived and I decided to test it out on a tiny canal system in rural Ireland! Fishing for perch, i used a 3G cheb rig with a supercontinent minnow as a lure, the new Shimano Aldebaran bfs reel was amazing, casting and handling was smooth, accurate and precise! I couldn’t be more impressed with this setup, although the fish were not big, the setup was ideal for a days fishing! i can’t seem to dial my reel in on a 1/32oz jig…..even after adjusting the brake system/tension knob……I did spool the whole reel with varivas 8 # .6 @ 150m? could this be my problem with casting distance? thanks

It could be. I’m using 0.2 braid here it’s 0.07mm . You will cast much further with thinner braid.

No doubt BFS on UL rods is super fun. Plenty of great options out there if people want to get into it on a budget.

It’s really expensive but it’s the best Bfs reel ever made , I had to see what all the hype was about 😅 it’s way better than the cheaper reel I had before
