Love the rossi 92's. I just can't see the iron sights. So I mount a red dot. Rucker machine makes mounts for different red dot patterns. Keeps the dot nice and low! I would love to get the 454 next 👍

Quite the difference in that .454 and the .45 Long Colt....haha I wouldn't mind deer hunting with that .454, especially in some of the thicker pine woods....take care brother!!

Thanks Ken! Yeah my thought too. A great short distance brush gun. It sure has the punch to knock one down.

Enjoyed the video. Just curious. The ejecting of the spent shell seems stiff. Are you concerned about that? Thanks!!!!
@cervus-venatorКүн бұрын
It is a little frustrating, but I think it is because of being a new rifle. This may have been like the 10th - 15th rounds I've shot out of it. If I recall my R92 in 357 was like that at first and just needed a few rounds through it to smooth out. We'll see how it goes with this one. One thing I did notice was that the 45 LC with their flat nose did not seem to want to chamber well. You'll notice that I had to restart on each one as it was getting hung on the chamber edge. The 454 Casull rounds seemed to chamber smoothly.
@rkf2746Күн бұрын
@@cervus-venator Thanks for the response. I did notice your restart with the .45 Colt. New rifle. I bet it loosens up and polishes pretty good after a bit of shooting. Nice rifle!! Enjoy it.

Don't guess I've seen the stainless model before. Keep an eye on your action screws, I've had a couple try to back out on me. God forbid you have to send it back in. I was without mine for a year + Can't believe it knocked that plate off the hook! That 454 he's some punch!😮❤❤❤

@@rkf2746 it had a little kick, lol. The very forst short I posted was made from an old cell phone video of me shooting it. I can't post a link but you can search for "2.5" Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull fireball" and you should find it. I shot it at 50 yards from the sitting position. I didn't get a shot of the group but I held for the 10 ring.

@cervus-venator I don't own a rifle in 454 casull but I do own a revolver with a red dot and I regularly shoot a ten inch gong at 125 yards and rarely miss. I also shoot my .460 s&w at 200 yards and with a scope I can keep all shots inside a three inch group.

That 454 round hits hard! Before you move the sight try another brand of ammunition. I had a pistol once that shot way left with Gold Dot and dead on with everything else.
@cervus-venator2 күн бұрын
Oh good point. I'll do that to see if it is the ammo. I found it odd that the 45's were dead center, but the 454 was not. Thanks!

@cervus-venator2 күн бұрын

So you lever A round in to the camber and walk down range in front of it 😮
@cervus-venatorКүн бұрын
Maybe, but you never know what happens when the camera is turned off or what footage is edited out. I could have shut the camera off, taken the rifle and set it on the tail gate of the truck and then walked down range. However, that is not the case. I put it in half cock which is safe for a lever gun and set it on the bag. I'm confident that a gun cannot fire without the trigger being pulled. So I have no issues with it being loaded, chambered, in a safe no fire hammer position, pointing down range and walking down there to fix the target. The caveat to that is if there was someone else there with me then I would have unloaded the rifle completely.
