I am a retired old fart who has been restoring an MGA over the past 5 years, starting with a new to me frame. I can appreciate your moments of doubt in your own repairs, so important to get it right the first time and somewhat rewarding when you do! You and your team are an inspiration .

What is an MGA?
@maverickmyrtlebeach4 ай бұрын
@@davidbenji1 MGA is a British sports car that MG manufactured from 1955 to 1962. The MGA was a significant break from tradition for MG, with a contemporary design that differed from the pre-war T-Type cars. The MGA had flowing lines and was available in two-door roadster and coupe body styles. MGA is one of the most iconic British classic cars great car to drive,, like a go-cart but bigger faster

And how big of that expert (regardless of mitigating variables) to admit to making a mistake! Far too many are f-a-r too eager to blame anyone except themselves when things go wrong. :(

Yes, always check your work no matter the experience level. But I'm surprised the injector shaft key was not more robust / positive in terms of fit like a woodruff key. Either it's lined up and fits or its out. That could have been spotted when it was removed and the original put back in place. Clearly the original pump has a better key. Good work getting back in the water with everything dry.

Happy birthday, Brit!! Welcome back Barb, hope you enjoy Fiji as much as i love it. I'm glad the timing issue was resolved and was not an issue with the engine itself. As a mechanic, if we don't dout our work, we're not doing our jobs correctly as my Master Mechanic used to say during my apprenticeship. Keeps you from making too many mistales, and preparsd for when shit happens. Could their be another upgrade in the future to hydroregenerarion or wind turbines? Not sure about the practicality of doing so. Have a great week and can't wait to see you guys in Fiji.

Keep an eye on your stainless steel chain. My observations over the years is that the stainless chain hardens and the links fracture. The most recent pictures of stainless steel chain I have were for a commercial catamaran that after 18 months not some but metres of the chain links were fractured. The chain didn't fail but the pictures make for interesting viewing.

One thing you need to know, it's a term we use when riding. chrome don't bring you home. Stainless chain does not have near the strength of g4. So to me being safe and keep the other people aboard.is more important, that and the cost is outrageous.

Van Morrison songs carry such a great message. Let the water run over me ,I will still stand here. I feel for Cory I have been there as a machine repairman, over thinking is a problem with the more experiance you have my brain has more ways to resolve the problem but it doesn't always start with the easiest. my ego has gotten in the way of KISS keep it simple stupid. lol

Not sure which Ketten Walder chain you bought. The 316 can pit in warm water. The 318LN is much stronger and pitting resistant. I recommend isolating both the negative and positive from the windlass with a switch / breaker if you want to guarantee chain life. Also helps with lightning isolation. If you want to go all out, negative isolate your engines like we did on Razzle Dazzle. No electrolosis. Anodes last forever. Jamie knows RD.
