I just ordered the Modus TX2. It will be my first 13 reel. I hope its a good one. I have been a die hard Shimano fan since the 1990's.

I’ve had the 13 fishing inception reel since the day it come out several years ago. It’s a super simple mid range to entry level bait caster that has held up tremendously!! Now the (Inception) is NOT a Shimano by any means but it’s an OK smooth reel for the money and will take a beating! Worth what you pay for definitely.

I have a Inception that I got on sale for $99. I thought I would try it since they originally sold for $120. The spool was super free spinning, more so than any reel I’ve had.. On the water it didn’t like lighter baits, you really need to throw 1/2 or better to keep up with the spool. I had to use most of the brakes to keep it under control. Another thing I didn’t like was it tended to spool the line to the right side all the time. I could even it out and it would be back to the right in just a few casts. I hate that on a baitcaster. The reel also started to make a high pitch squeal with very little fishing time. I had to oil the brakes and bearings way more often than my Lews. The paint came off easily too. I really wanted to like it, but it just sits in my garage now. I’ll stick with Lews and Shimano.. Honestly I would rather use a cheap Abu Garcia Black Max3 🤷‍♂️

I just got a diawa tatula 103 limited , I slapped it on a favorite absolute rod , it’s insane. Most I have ever paid for a reel and so far It’s working amazingly. Of course you can get a lot of other reels that work similarly for a lower price but I like the tatulas and the limited is just a tatula all upgraded and has all the bells and whistles . I’m thinking about grabbing a 13 myself to keep on my boat.
