Have found that a combination of content aware spot heal and content aware fill is the most successful providing you are realistic in what you are trying to achieve e.g don't try to remove stuff that is impossible to remove. Have tried many other alternatives to photoshop like Capture one and the like and for me adobe beats them all the time, for now! Great instructional video as always!

Hey Aaron, In the second example you did not change the sampling area to just the railing. Maybe that would've helped?
@flyingvish
@flyingvish 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think so, also limiting the range of from where the progam can sample by exclusing the lady ,the water and the other wooden structures would also probably helped.

Thanks for the great walk through and comparison. But, Aaron, we're right here, behind the first camera. There's gotta be a motivation for looking off axis into that second camera. I know the affectation has become popular. I know editing a one camera shoot is boring. I know everybody's using this stunt now - but it's silly. Other than that, this was another perfect Phlearn video with excellent knowledge presentation. You're incredibly effective at this.

BTW, I am a paid subscriber to your service. I pay because I have learned so much watching your freely provided youtube videos. Watching you solve problems is the quickest way to learn, but every time I launch myself into a psd I feel the pressure of a million details half understood. At some point I'll carve out a week straight to sit through all your paid tutorials. Thanks!

Excellent! However, I think of content-aware fill as being more of an automated clone stamp, especially if you use the clone stamp control window with its scaling and rotation controls. With that in mind, how about removing the birds in two steps, first removing one fence section worth and restricting the sampling area to the clean fencing on the far right? If you get the first step right, the second content-aware operation should be easier. That’s sort of how I would do it with the clone stamp tool.

Bet you would get the same result with the birds if you wouldn't select the whole area with the lasso but select every single bird seperately using the add selection option and then use the content aware fill tool to remove all selected areas (old or new should work).

Hello. Love your channel. I’ve noticed that you use the Wacom tablet with your Mac. I bought a tablet because of your channel and how much you swore by them. I love mine tremendously but since DAY ONE, I’ve had problems with the tablet not switching to apps correctly, and/or remembering my settings. But, when I plug it up to a PC, it tends to work better. Just curious, have you ever had those kinds of issues with your Wacom tablet? And if so, how did you fix it? I’ve been contacting their support for a couple of weeks now and they haven’t seemed to be able to fix it. Just curious, Thanks! Troy

10:00 - Is the problem here not the fact that you're telling Photoshop to try and replace the railing? You're selecting the railing with the lasso tool, which you are then telling Photoshop to try and remove. Had you of just selected the birds to remove (which is what you were trying to do) this all would have worked 100%.

That was not very smart... you need to tell the program which information it should use. The whole picture is a bad choice. And also you should decrease the radius around the birds a bit.

Ummm. The video was well done except the examples and the choices of what to remove made this video fail. Of course the spot brush works better, because you choose to work on items that best work for small or easy items (you even mentioned this a dark helicopter on a light sky). I would pull this video because it's misleading to those who are learning. The tool was used in the wrong way and it's embarrassing to be honest. But the guy did do a good job and it was well made. Just the wrong use of the tool.
@lightingbryan
@lightingbryan 5 жыл бұрын
Or you could have at least shown examples where it works better then other tools. Good luck using the spot brush around lots of texture and patterns when the object is large. It often pulls samples from weird places. Such as when you are spot healing hair and it pulls samples from an eye and you give the person a third eye. Haha
