Great introduction to the tool, but also love how you showed how to get into the layers after, and affect further processing. That’s the magic sauce which will really make this tool powerful. Excellent tip to use the brush in the overlay mode. Huge time savings as well as precision and control. Excellent as always, Aaron. Thanks.

Arron Nace you are a favorite teacher. On this you talk about the shadows and sun direction. I've yet to see anyone address water reflection of that sky. I assume it is just a flip but would love to see you do a lesson on it. Thanks.

Aaron is right on the money - Adobe needs to continue to simplify operations in PS, given that the subscription model is bringing in many more non-professional photographers. This tool is exactly what is needed to save time and simplify at the same time (not unlike what the 3rd party panels like Raya Pro do). Thanks Aaron, for introducing the thought process you should follow before you even consider what sky you'll choose. A great process. And nice review of how to use the layers after application. It's in my PS bookmarks !

I'm just saying - the brushing you did towards the end(with brush mode set to overlay) to "tidy up" the mask is counterproductive. The "Fade Edge" setting in the Sky Replacement dialog is set to 100 and this helps blend the foreground/ background. So, instead of brushing on the mask after, simply set "Fade Edge" to 0. In every test I've done, I find that it's best left between 50 and 100 for a smoother blend. It just came across as it being an "imperfect mask" when in fact, it's the other way round as this feathered area helps it look more natural.

@@taylorandtang hi there Jason I have solved it! The icon I had in the dock on my mac was for photoshop 2020, so I went into the application folder and dragged the icon for photoshop 2021 into the dock and opened it and the option for the replace sky is there! I went to the Adobe application and there are updates for both 2020 and 2021 versions of photoshop! I was opening the 2020 version so I just replaced it with the icon for the 2021 version Hope you have either found this or this helps

@nigeljameshughes37223 жыл бұрын
@@taylorandtang Hi there glad it sorted it! The Dock on a Mac is customisable by you so things you put there stay there until you remove them. The updates from Adobe Cloud go into your Applications folder not the Dock! So I gather you have dragged the new 2021 icon into your Dock and removed the old Icon. Glad to have helped Stay safe!

Why sometimes Overlay mode doesn't work but Normal mode does? I needed to use overlay so much but the brush painted nothing. I had to switch to Normal mode and decrease opacity, flow, and hardness to match Overlay mode.
