I just bought it with a 6ah battery for possible backup for my cpap machine. I tested it out and got around 6hrs with the heater on med. Also, I bought the 18v inverter and got an hour of use with the cpap.

The 18V batteries don't have much stored power. Only additional use I can find for them is recharging phones. You can buy battery packs that have more reserve, especially for traveling.

The first time you tried the blender the motor start cap loaded up just before the circuit protector kicked in. The next time with the cap loaded you could run it. But if you wait too long the start cap drains down and you need to do the double tap.

At start up some things need more power than during regular continual use it's called "inrush". your blender motor is very close to the overload limit. probably due to the position of the rotor. simple motors have a sweet spot where a motor uses less energy to run. the magnetic force spins the rotor and it stops randomly (think spin the bottle, some times you get a hot chick, some times you get a fuggo) so if it's not in the sweet spot it takes a little more juice to start it rotating. in things that have a large inrush you can add a capacitor that'll store a little extra juice just for the start up.

Indeed Ryobi 40v products are great. I have a 2017 brushless mower, an expand it brushless string trimmer, a 550 CFM leaf blower, a 14” chainsaw (help me a lot) and now I’m waiting for my 300w battery inverter to arrive, because im moving temporarily to a place that have daily blackouts. I want to get some expand it attachments like the edge trimmer, the pole saw and want the earth auger, since I break my back using non power tools in the farm.

I bought two 6-AH batteries to go with mine. I am hoping it will help on our extended vacation to South Dakota this summer. Most of our camper loads are DC, but my Acer Chromebook is charged via USB-C and my Ham Radio HT's all required AC to power their Lithium battery chargers. When we run our Ryobi 2300 generator to recharge our RV batteries we can recharge our 6-AH 40V Ryobi batteries as well. I am hoping they will build a larger Inverter, maybe a 600-750 watt unit that uses two batteries. Then I won't need to install a large inverter in our RV, etc. We use our Ryobi 18-volt fan when camping in warmer climates, but the 300-watt inverter gives us many more options to power various combinations of loads depending on which batteries are charged up at the time. I would love for the next generation to have several USB-2.0 and USB-C ports since we have so many devices. I travel for both work and pleasure so being on the road means staying in touch. Thanks for the reviews!

How did it work out, for your SD vacation ??
@KU9L
@KU9L 4 жыл бұрын
@@kan-zee It worked great with a couple of comments. The batteries tend to go flat if left plugged in over a couple weeks without using the inverter, so only plug in the battery when you want to use the inverter function. I also used it power our Ryobi 18-volt dual voltage fan when we stopped overnight and the dog needed airflow to quit panting all over us until she went to sleep (we all like it cool, and in GA it was still warm at night, LOL). The Ryobi 18-volt battery also goes flat if left plugged into the fan. I used the 300-watt inverter to recharge a 18-volt battery when I needed to use my drill, blower, weed eater, etc. and it wasn't a travel day for us to recharge from our truck's inverter while traveling. The 300-watt inverter in the USB-C mode powered my Acer Chromebook just fine, the Chromebook has a 10-hour battery so sometimes I would plug into the USB-C port just to extend the battery life until we used an RV park with hookups. We generally boondocked or used USFS campgrounds without power and tethered Internet off of our phones using the camper's USB power. Overall I like the Ryobi's 300-watt inverter and plan to test it further our next trip in 2021. Thanks! -Dave

The reason the blender trips is what’s ca lled LRA ( Locked Rotor Amps) or as another commenter said. “Inrush Current,” inrush currents reach levels 20 times greater than the normal current levels experienced during the motor’s normal operating speeds. After this initial inrush of current, the motor begins to rotate. At this point the initial starting current subsides, reducing to a level of current equal to 4 - 8 times the normal running current for that motor. This reduced, yet still largely exaggerated current, is sustained only briefly, as the motor quickly reaches full running speed, where current then subsides to its normal operating level.

A electric motors starting amps will depend on brush alignment with the rotor, and the rotors angle relative to the stator. Most AC motors have permanent magnets on the rotor and field coils on the stator. Many also have a starting capacitor and the capacitor may be partially charged or completely depleted at start time depending on when you stop the motor. Each time you start it the starting capacitor could draw additional current especially when it is at it's lowest charge. For those unfamiliar a capacitor is like a batterie that runs down within seconds and charges within seconds.

I made my own inverter for about 40 bucks but it’s only 200 watts and I feel like it’s very inefficient . I bought a 36 to 12 voltage regulator and then a 200 watt 12volt inverter from northern tools and it works well. I don’t use it very much , this was before ryobi released this . I bought the 18 volt inverter from ryobi and I use that one everyday, that 18 volt inverter drains the battery like crazy. Great review

In the upright position, the cooling is impeded, and it will eventually shut off, as it it thermally protected. One real benefit of using batteries in this unit is that it "exercises" them, as opposed to just leaving them to run down in the off season. I think others covered the start up, / in-rush / motor start capacitor, issue well.

i'm sorry but this guy is missing the MOST IMPORTANT test of any inverter - how LONG will the item run off of the power source? this inverter is only as good as the battery that powers it - which is the noted Ryobi 40 volt battery. those batteries are almost $100 a piece and a 40 volt battery will NOT run any item that has a heavy power draw for very long - like a matter of minutes. a better way to analyze the Roybi 40 volt battery is to look at the published specifications on the Home Depot web site for the items that use this battery - like hedge clippers; small chain saw; small electric lawn mower; leaf blower; string weed cutter, etc. if you know how long this battery will run an electric lawnmower, you will have a very good idea how long (and how many times) you can charge your electronic gadgets.

Thank you for this hands-on review, these are the most accurate and trustworthy where you put the products to the test at a regular use environment. Note most of the electronic motors will always rapm the wattage at the start and then go down to the rated wattage in their specs, this is why the blender was sometimes working and other times not. But still a great product for softer uses. Cheers brother.

The peak watts is probably the issue with the blender

1:23 ....🤯 tip on opening the tough packaging , I use a Hand Can opener along the edge..works pretty good..😎👍 but if that fails...I use my hooked belt cutter blade...works awesome everytime. I was thinking of picking up something like this (chk out videokzbin.info/www/bejne/b6K6p4SepMaqb80 . 4:16 I find that with all ryobi invertors ..it takes about 5-8 secs till it activates...

Darn I should have tested a TV. But most modern LED tvs barely draw any power. I know it would have worked just fine.
