In this video we take a look at very cheap and simple solar! I am a fan of tools and always carry a Ryobi drill, jig saw and a skill saw! These work off of a 12V charger. You can get these on Amazon with the links below. Now Ryobi has come out with a 150W inverter with 2 USB ports! If you are carrying these tools anyway, you have a large battery bank! So why not use that power for everything and let them be your power source!

You won’t believe it Bob. I watched this yesterday morning and thought, “that drill battery hook up is such a good idea, but those are expensive and I’ll hold off.” Then I went to Salvation Army later and found a drill with a 15V battery on it for $10, AND a ryobi battery charger right next to it! I shrieked in the store cause it felt like a sign that I’m on the right path. Spirit said, “I got you girl!”

At 71 I'm considering going nomad, due to family issues. But on a happy note I discovered my 1 year old granddaughter loves Bob's voice. She grabs the phone and talks to him and kissed it. So you have a new generation of admires, and a damned cute one at that. (No this Grandma is not at all prejudice). LOL 😆😂 🤣

My wife and I used to live on a boat (for about 7 years). One of the things we always looked for was something that could do more than one job. Limited and small spaces require this kind of thinking. This Ryobi inverter fits that requirement beautifully and helps to justify the initial outlay of expense.

Hey Brah, shout out from Hawaii. I spent a few years wondering the earth, and I used my car as my power source. Had a cheap inverter, and a little solar panel for the car battery. I noticed that the 12 volt auxiliary port was slow to charge even a cell phone. So I ran a positive and negative wire from the battery to a new auxiliary port. Bam! That worked like a champ. Probably would recommend a 15 amp fuse inline with positive cable for good measure. Great video, love Ryobi, truly a off grid brand.

Have the 18v car charger, I cut the cigarette plug off and wired a xt90 with a pig tail. Used a wago lever lock to improvise a quick change adapter. I use my diy power box and 60w solar panel to charge my ryobi batteries. I also made a 5v USB to 19v 1a charger for using USB on small solar panels or 5v battery bank.

I've been using Ryobi tools, including the Inverter. I'm very happy with them. I especially find their Chain Saw is very handy to have ready to cut firewood, It's quiet and works well. Instead of the internal oil, I use a manual oil can. It's less messy during storage.

Great video about solar power, thanks for your work. In the video you mention that Amazon sells Ryobi. Actually, you can buy Ryobi off Amazon but you're NOT buying the tool from an authorized source. It's the same as buying the tool from your neighbor. The only Ryobi recognized dealers are Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet. (Full disclosure: I work for Direct Tools Factory Outlet) Those Amazon resellers come into my store and drop $15,000 to $80,000 on product. What those Amazon resellers don't tell you is that their sales DON'T HAVE THE FACTORY WARRANTY. Only the original purchaser, in this case the Amazon reseller, is the warranty holder.

Already used it for a camping trip running lights and charging phone etc, and used during an electric power cut in the house. I didn’t buy them both together, but Beaudens sent me a voucher for £20 off the panel, so couldn’t resist getting it. Think they have made bigger models now too.

It's been a bit over 20 years since I have been on the road, miss it. I am amazed at the advances in solar and inverter technology, so much cheaper and more flexible than it used to be. Even the more expensive, portable power stations and panels. I can see right now, a big advantage of a portable solar setup with a power station would be if it were your first rig and you were still figuring out your needs.

I use the ryobi inverter with the batteries as part of my hurricane preps. I'm using harbor freight solar system and inverter to charge things
@slimdawgwoof
@slimdawgwoof 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnettew3957 It's called the Thunderbolt "100 Watt Solar Panel Kit" on their site. You also have to buy a 12 volt sealed lead acid battery for the solar panel kit to charge. Then you can connect a power inverter (also sold at harbor freight) to the large lead acid battery and plug in a Ryobi charger to the AC port on the inverter. Then you can charge the ryobi tool batteries individually. It takes a little learning to get it setup and going and isn't easily portable. I'm only really charging the Ryobi batteries and small electronics. I bought some small Ryobi fans which were not the cheapest but we use them in a hurricane. The Ryobi inverter he showed provides one way use a ryobi battery power a small appliance or charge a phone. I have a lot of Ryobi batteries so what I do is keep 6 of them charged at all times off AC wall power using the Ryobi IntelliPort SUPERCHARGER. So even if I can't recharge them during a power outage at least I have six available to use. Feel free to ask more questions if you are stuck. The solar panel setup in the video which he is using to charge the BEAUDENS Portable Power Station (battery) would be a far simpler setup. He also mentions a Jackery Portable Power station which is a similar type of system.

So, why not plug the ryobi 12 volt charger into your solar panels? Then you could charge your tool batteries without 110 ac power.
@joshwokojance3790
@joshwokojance3790 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnndavis7647 you get more use of the sun by charging a big battery than charging your tools. While it might work to charge a drill battery, if you charge a deep cycle battery you could charge multiple tool batteries at once. Regarding the 12v chargers that plugs into the cigarette lighter, they tend to pull more amps than the lighter socket can give. I have seen many work vans that the outlets are burned out from charging tool batteries.

Ryobe makes an awesome fan in two sizes. It runs on their batteries, and also on a 110V AC extension cord. The less you convert from AC to and from DC the more energy you get. The little black box with only 166 watt hours is not enough to run a CPAP machine much longer than an hour.

I bought a harbor freight 12v 35Ah battery to run my CPAP all night with the humidity set to “1” (the lowest). With a good day of sun, it charges back up in about 4-5 hours on my 100W harbor freight solar panel kit. I have only used it for 1 camping trip (9 days) but I am definitely impressed with solar (and my wife can sleep well at night as well).
