Just oc it. My 970 is a bit faster (5 to 10fps) than the 1060 3GB overclocked. I also modded my bios and did a shunt mod. Very noticeable performance gains, 10 to 20 fps easy if you do it right

GTX 970 is very close and frequency can be increased slightly to close the gap and reach 60 fps on some of those games. 1060 in this video is clocked 400 mhz higher and price at this time is like $50 more.

It depends on what type of 1060 you get. I have the MSI gaming X 1060 and it’s very good because it has on OC mode and that boosts the speed massively so I say the gtx 1060 is a lot better. (But depending on what type of 1060 you get)

it was "fixed" via drivers a long time ago, I guess using the "slow" partition for OS related stuff like desktop buffers, I tested that issue a lot and now the card uses the whole 4GB buffer without issues, but people like to point out the nvidia shitstorm and Im ok with that, but the card now works fine with 4GB loads

Na minha opniao a 1060, pois a 970 tem na verdade 3,5gb de ram e mais 0,5gb de ram mais lenta. A 1060 e uma tecnologia mais nova (por exemplo uma gtx 580 e mais forte que uma gtx 650 certo? Mas a 580 nao tem suporte ao Vulkan... entao as vezes placas muito antigas nao valem a pena), outra vantagem é no consumo, a 1060 o tdp e de 120w, enquanto a 970 e de 140w! Em resume, se estao o mesmo preco vai de 1060, agora a 970 ainda assim é uma otima placa, se estiver mais barata vai de 970 mesmo!!

Wait and buy a 2060/1160 for 300$. I have a 2gb 960 and have problems with games with high vram requirements of 2016, most games play fine but one that I really like is among those ones. Its well optimized, but I'm afraid the 660 is not enough card to manage high settings at that resolution. The lack of cuda cores is more of an issue than lack of Vram.

I'm not sure if you understand my issue. My card is powerful enough to run this game at High 768p arround 50-60 FPS, and I do run, the issue is that the game stutters like if I had no VRAM enough in some parts. GTX 660 is much more powerful than the minimum requeriment (GTX 550 Ti, more than 2x faster), and it's for 1080p.

BuragoANime well it's not midrange the way things have been going but in a normal universe where GPUs aren't worth their weight in gold I'd call it somewhere near the top of the midrange. Then again it's MSRP is higher than the 960s was when that came out (if I remember correctly) and that was perfectly in the midrange.

Its really not worth it to sli 970s better sell that one 970 and upgrade to smth more powerful with extra money that you would spent on the new 970 because not every game supports sli, + sli is only worth it on the highest end gpus when you just cant get more power off of a single card so you buy two to have the extra power
