@mikec3260 This list isn't top selling (not entirely sure what this list is tbh) 2023 was Hogwarts Legacy (multi), 2022 was Pokemon Scarlet/Violet (Switch), 2021 was Minecraft (Multi). Nintendo dominated because games weren't cross-platform. They didn't flat-line, they had to share glory. Pokemon, Zelda and Animal Crossing have all still remained in top 3 selling positions for 5 of the last 7 years. No Sony or Microsoft exclusive games hold those accolades.

I also own and played both, and yes, both r masterpieces. But I prefer some other Mario games than Galaxy, and there r already several Mario in the list, so, I'd stick with BioShock. But those 2 clearly r the best 2 of 2007, above the very 1st opus of 2 CULT sagas, Uncharted and Assassin's Creed, whose 1st opuses were great, but not the best of their respective series; and above Medal of Honor Airborne who was another banger of 2007 too.

Yeah but being better which they are not doesn't mean GOTY worthy. Every characters in Mortal Kombat plays the same except for their special moves and fatalities and Tekken's gameplay are mostly button masher, it doesn't required much skills. With Street Fighter and Soul Calibur you actually had to be technical in how you play in able to be victorious.

Golden Eye 007 is fun and a great Nintendo 64 game. But Final Fantasy 7 on the Sony PlayStation beats it any day of the week. The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom was my favorite game of 2024. So between the late 80's and throughout most of the 90's, Nintendo Power is the judge. Something else took over for 1999 and 2000. GameInformer was the judge 2001-2013. Then finally, TGA is the judge 2014 and beyond. None of these are end all be all, but a lot of these lists really only had a few places choose those respective GOTYs.
