Appreciate the bench testing and accuracy verification, I bought one as a result. Looks like these were discontinued for a while in the US around 2022 but now they are available again through the Testo website. Supposedly the ones sold in the US were/are manufactured in Germany and other countries are manufactured in China. I’ve been looking at a lot of clamp meters and settled on this one, difficult to find one that measures Kw, there are only 3 that I could find Fieldpiece SC480&680, Testo 770-3, and Redfish IDVM550. Thanks for the video in helping me make my decision!

Glad the video helped. I think a few companies have struggled the past couple of years with product availability. There are a few others out there that will measure power from the likes of the big brands Flir CM85-2, Chauvin Arnoux F407 and F607, RS Pro 158B, think there are some units from Uni-T and may be even CEM that are rebranded. I like the Testo unit though, hope it works out for you.

@@three-phase562That makes sense about Covid and part availability. I haven’t even heard of some of the other meters you listed, I also didn’t know that Flir made meter, appreciate making me aware of the other options.

@@lackr0073 Flir make a few instruments, not many in the multimeter style of things, they do offer more in the environmental monitoring field. They also have Extech that do offer a lot more, although they are part of the Teledyne group now. Not sure if Extech do a power clamp meter though, I think all of the Extech instrument are rebrands, mostly from CEM.

Hi ,,,mate ,,,I have the myself 770-3 ,,, I have issue,,,whit it ,,,i am set it volts,,,reading,,,don’t show me the reading,,,everything else’s ok,,,any idea,,,,what it is ? Bit disappointed 😢

With the leads removed and switched to reading AC volts, the display on mine fluctuates a few millivolts and the frequency display is unstable. If I then short out the inputs the millivolts and frequency stabiliise, but not quite on zero. If your meter doesn't do that, it will likely be the function switch not working or the amplifier circuit faulty. I have never been inside my meter as one screw is hidden under the serial number label. If the meter is under warranty, I would just return it.

Nice video, which amp clamp for a HVAC Tech would be the best bang for the buck
@three-phase5623 ай бұрын
Just depends on what functionality you want from the meter. If you want power measurement capability, then this Testo 770-3 would be my likely choice. If you don't want power measurement but would like inrush current, then Testo offer the 770-1, the UT216C is a similar price and functionality. About half the price of those is the Kaiweets / Habotest HT208D. If you just want basic AC / DC current measurement, then you could look at the Extech MA443, or the Fluke 323 or Flir CM72 if you want a top brand names. Thanks for watching.

isn´t the adapter especially for their DMM?, the peculiar shape gives extra protection on the multimeter with probe sensing connections. Nice video as always.A good way to start the sunday.
@three-phase5628 ай бұрын
They appear to have two adapters, one for their DMM, and then a slightly different one for this clamp meter. I don't need the temperature measurement functionality, so have never purchased it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@three-phase562 Ah so. I didn't know that because I only have the DMM from Testo.

It's a real shame that it only has a 600V input. Otherwise the jaw looks great. I used to love their flue gas analysers, they worked!
@three-phase5627 ай бұрын
The jaw design is a useful feature of this clamp. Testo do seem to make solid test equipment. Thanks for watching.

Appreciate you watching and commenting, it is a good meter, although I don't own a Fluke clamp meter to compare it to.

It works perfectly, but after the warranty, you will have to throw it away. I liked it a lot, but a cheap Chinese one is the same and safer to use. It's a shame that Germans make junk nowadays.

Has destruido el instrumento, tiene muchas mediciones pero no fiables
