Three and a half years ago I went through radiation treatment for prostate cancer. One month before the radiation I was given a six month injection of Lupron. After my 54 raditation treatments the low T levels made me feel like crap--the hot flashes were the worst--very low energy, gained almost twenty pounds and couldn't wait for this stuff to wear off. After eight monhs I was still having the worst hot flashes and then they just seemed to stop. Six months later I had my testosterone checked--170 -still very low from almost 400 level before the Lupron. Three months later another T test--levels had fell to 119--whats going on? Still low energy, weight kept packing on but no hot flashes. Another test six months later and my T had risen to 240--better but not good--still dragging ass and can't sem to lose the weight--When I told my doc about this he pretty much said I'll need to live with it because he isn't prescribing TRT because it will stimulate the cancer again. After doing my own research I can't believe some doctors (or many) are behind the times when it comes to TRT treatment after prostate cancer and I'm now contacting some TRT clincs on my own to see about TRT treatment and getting my T back up to a reasonable level--by the way I'm 75 years old.

@@rthappens yes I was able to start my TRT treatment this past March from a local clinic. I had contacted several online clinics who refused me because of the cancer unless I provided a letter from my doctor saying it was ok - that wasn't happening. Local clinic tested my test at 52 - no wonder I was feeling like crap - last office visit my test was up to 975 and feeling much better but still in the adjusting stage

@@rthappens my friend, there are plenty of online clinic I'm sure would supply you with testosterone. I first tried Royal Medical Clinic (?) , and they would not treat me without the letter from my doctor. I'm pretty sure they have changed their stance as they have a big article on testosterone and prostate cancer on their website. You might give them a try. They aren't cheap - $195 a month I believe - it would be much cheaper if your private doctor would give you a prescription. I pay $179 a month but had to pay a whole year up front to get that price. I use Rocky Mountain Mens Clinic in Colorado and I visit their office for my labs. If I can answer any questions that you have I'll give it my best shot

Both times I have stopped ADT the last shot did double time. The first time was with Eligard and it was a six month dose. ( By the way, I will never do a 6 mo dose of Eligard that hurt and stung and would occasionally drip blood for a few days) It was in September and lasted to the following September. The second time was a 3 month dose of Lurpron, also in September, which took until March before my T started to raise. The interesting thing about the Eligard is I could fell the nodule in the fat of my Belly. The now ex wife (an RN) thought I was feeling scare tissue or something. No it was the Eligard suspension and when I couldn't feel it any more my T started to raise. I'm not certain the oncologist believed me either as he asked to feel it. That was the only thing I liked about the Eligard because of the pain and I think it impacted my mood more as well. Some people are the other way but Lupron was much less painful for me. I hope that helps someone. I just wanted to share my limited experience.

When you change to plant based nutrition combined with interval fasting you will quickly lose weight. At the same time I recommend sports as riding a bike or jogging and, even more important, dumbbell training to recover muscles and strength. Works fine, just start slow and be patient.

I went through two rounds of Orgovyx and the depression and tiredness was quite pronounced. No medications for this were prescribed. I lost 15 pounds which I attribute to muscle loss and hot flashes. @@chedesgrieux2365 luckily, my insurance did pay for the Orgoxyx. I calculated that it cost $79 per pill. I grew VERY weary of having no testosterone and the horrible side effects. Once I stopped the Orgovyx, I felt back to normal in about a month. In the last six month since I have been off of it my PSA has been below 0.03, so all is good with me, so far.

Just started on ADT meds back in February with a 30-day dose of Firmagon and can tell you that stuff seems to start working from the moment of the injections. I mean from the instant I stood up from getting stuck it seemed like I had lack of focus and the typical injection site issues. I did find out that Firmagon, because it has a shorter life than some other ADT meds, has to start working immediately, and you will lose up to 88 percent of your testosterone production in the first 24 hours. I am now on a 6-month Lupron dose and Zytiga but I am seriously considering opting out of meds well earlier than I am supposed to because of the side-effects.

Would love to see a video on the option of opting out of ADT after a standard radiation treatment for a Teal (3-4 or 4-3)… What would be the change in probability of reoccurrence in 5 & 10 years?… Is the additional reoccurrence risk 10% or 50% vs the increase in other longterm probkems of weight gain and heartissues?… Couldn’t any additional risk be mitigated by PSA monitoring and PSMA Pet scans at any sign of reoccurrence?…

I am with you. I had the same Gleason score. I was going to have 42 sessions and no ADT. I didn't like the side affects. But my radiation Doc said that would be a mistake. I was 65 and wanted it gone. I did 3 monthly shots , not painful at all. Then did a 3 month shot and it burned like hell for about 10 minutes.I had worked out and lifted weights for years and was able to continue it all the same while under treatment. I didn't have the energy but was able to stay with it and gained no weight. But my sex life ended and I blame the ADT for it.

They should monitor your PSA every six months or so. Your PSA might have a flare after treatment, but it should level off and remain relatively consistent. It PSA rises more than 2.0 above its lowest point, the nadir, it is an indication of biochemical recurrence, and that there are cancer cells multiplying in the prostate or metastases. You won't really know much until your testosterone level recovers and then see what your PSA is. But, PC is usually slow growing and you have years to treat any recurrence. Best wishes for a complete cure

I had a PSA of 38, Gleason 7, with a PET scan that showed the cancer to be organ confined. My urologist was talking 2-3 years of ADT. After researching my options I chose to proceed with LDR brachytherapy to address the organ-confined tumors, and 25 sessions of external beam radiation to the prostate, seminal vesicles and pelvic lymph nodes. The external beam radiation should have also addressed any micro metastases that might have escaped the prostate. No ADT. My choice. ADT seemed like a lot of nasty side effects with little proven benefit for my particular situation. Thank goodness for the PET scan or I would be on ADT right now and probably pissed off about it.

I was Coerced and deceived into one six month Eligard shot two months prior to 25 fractions of IMRT for locally advanced Gleason 3+4, and PSA 42. THE side effects are so horrific and insufferable that I am rolling the dice and refusing any further toxic ELIGARD. My PSA dropped to 0.006 and my T remains well below castrate level even 6 months after the first, and only shot was supposed expire. I have lost all trust and respect in the CROSS CANCER INSTITUTE, named after the fascist castrating bastard responsible for the Alberta Eugenics program. It is CRIMINAL ASSAULT CAUSING GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM the way they forced CASTRATION without FREE AND FULLY INFORMED CONSENT.

I was coerced into one six month shot of Eligard ADT CASTRATION given two months before starting 25 fractions of 68 Grey IMRT. PSA was 42 at diagnosis, but has dropped TO ZERO a year after RT. THE RT was no problem except the expected dry ejection and temporary loss of pubes. HOWEVER, the side effects that I was never informed about were so INSUFFERABLE that I refused further ADT and I am rolling the dice. Had locally advanced Gleason 3 plus 4 with 3 percent 4, no lymph nodes or seminal vesicles involved, no bone mets. STILL, one year after that first shot of Eligard toxin expired, my testosterone level remains castrate level with little hope of ever recovering. Looks like the bastards deceived me into permanent CASTRATION without my informed consent. So, now, I plan to self inject testosterone cypionate twice weekly to regain some semblance of quality of life. A big 4Q to this corrupted NARCO MEDICO CARTEL that perpetrated this criminal assault. Testosterone is cheap and over the counter here in Mexico, without any Doctors prescription. Now, I understand how doctors like Mengele thought they could treat humans like lab rats
